Mortensia is the het ship between Mortimer Mouse and Ortensia Whiskers from the Mickey Mouse and Friends fandom.

Canon[]

Ortensia was introduced in the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit shorts in the 1920s prior to the foundation of Walt Disney Studios. Like Oswald, she was the property of Universal for many decades before being regained by Disney in the 21st century. Mortimer was introduced in 1936 in the Disney short “Mickey’s Rival”, but he disappeared from animation for over 60 years before making his return. To date, the pair have never appeared in the same project.

However, given that both characters are Disney’s to use and loosely within the same character family of Mickey Mouse and Friends, it is entirely possible that they could eventually appear together. Disney is also known for crossover works involving multiple franchises, including the Disney Speedstorm game in which Ortensia appears as a racer. Mortimer has yet to appear in the game in any capacity, but its ongoing addition of content means that his eventual appearance is a possibility.

Mortimer is known for being something of a womanizer, with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck being among the objects of his unwanted attentions. Ortensia seems likely to fall victim to the same treatment in the event that the two were to appear in a project together. Alternatively, the pair might have friendlier relations in a series such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Mickey Mouse Funhouse. These series have portrayed Mortimer as a more sympathetic and likable character.

Fanon[]

Mortensia is an exceptionally minor pairing, which undoubtedly stems from a number of factors. Both characters are fairly small figures in the Mickey Mouse and Friends cast, with Ortensia only appearing in a handful of media since her return to Disney. Mortimer is somewhat more prominent but doesn’t enjoy nearly the level of popularity of the Sensational Six or even of fellow antagonist Peg-Leg Pete. He is usually depicted as the loathsome antithesis of Mickey Mouse.

Ortensia, meanwhile, may be seen by some as little more than a prototype of Minnie Mouse with little to make her interesting on her own. Of course, the largest obstacle to any shipping of the two characters is undoubtedly the pairing Oswensia. Fans of Ortensia and Oswald’s relationship are unlikely to brook any challenge to it, particularly from such a historically dislikable character as Mortimer Mouse. Some fans may also prefer that Mortimer stick to pursuing one female character and thus be content with MortiMinn.

There are currently no works tagged for this ship on AO3.
