Morteus is the slash ship between Amadeus Wolfgeist and Director Morty from the Super Mario fandom.
Canon[]
Amadeus and Morty both had their debut in Luigi’s Mansion 3, and have never met in canon. They are both ghosts who reside in the last resort, a haunted hotel that serves as the main setting of the game. Morty is a neutral character whereas Amadeus Wolfgeist is an antagonist.
Fanon[]
While it is quite unknown in the Super Mario fandom as a whole, Morteus has acclaimed some popularity within the Luigi’s Mansion fandom.
Fanworks sometimes depict Morty being affectionate towards Amadeus, which Amadeus is typically annoyed by. Others depict Morty calming Amadeus down after one of his temper tantrums, or even Amadeus comforting Morty when he puts himself down, due to the popular headcanon that Morty has little confidence, which comes from him saying things like “I’m a puny, worthless movie director” when he loses his megaphone on his floor of the hotel, Paranormal Productions. Giving Morty his megaphone back is one of the first quests of the level.
The two may be shipped together because they’re both passionate, emotional ghosts in show business, with Amadeus being a pianist and Morty being a film director.
This ship is often rivaled by ships such as Clemadeus, the ship between Amadeus Wolfgeist and Clem, Stewdeus, the ship between Amadeus Wolfgeist and Steward, or Moruigi, the ship between Morty and Luigi.
