Mortlody is the het ship between Morty Fieldmouse and Melody Mouse from the Mickey Mouse and Friends fandom.
Canon[]
Morty, the nephew of Mickey Mouse, first appeared in the comic story "Mickey's Nephews" in 1932. Melody, the niece of Minnie Mouse, first appeared in "The Late, Late Show" thirty years later. Morty was actually present in Melody's debut story, and it would be the first of several works in which the two appeared together. These included the 1982 comic story "Alone at Last", as well as several other 1980s works that seemed to depict the pair as school/classmates. Later, the two appeared in the 2013 story "Easter Crime."
Both characters have had limited appearances in animation, and in even fewer cases have they appeared in the same project. The most notable exception to this is Mickey's Christmas Carol, in which Melody (and/or her sister Millie) played the daughter of Bob Cratchit, a role filled by Morty's uncle Mickey. Melody's aunt Minnie played Mrs. Cratchit, while Morty and his brother Ferdie played the Cratchit sons. However, Morty is entirely absent from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Minnie's Bow-Toons, and Mickey and the Roadster Racers, all of which featured Melody. Melody, for her part, was absent from The Scariest Story Ever: A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular, Morty's most notable appearance in animation in the 21st century.
The relationship between Mickey's nephews and Minnie's nieces, much like that between Donald Duck's nephews and Daisy Duck's nieces, can vary greatly. While in general Morty and Melody are friendly with each other, they do occasionally become antagonistic. However, it is difficult to gauge their feelings towards each other due to how little media there is that features both of them together, never mind interacting. Of course, it is also worth noting that their respective uncle and aunt are occasionally depicted as actors playing assigned parts. As such, it is unclear whether any interactions between the two, whether friendly or hostile, are genuine or merely affected.
Fanon[]
Morty and Melody are both rather obscure characters in the Mickey Mouse and Friends library. Though they have existed for decades, their appearances have largely been confined to print media, most notably comics. As such, they aren't particularly popular in North America and are better known in other countries. There are thus very few fan works featuring either character, never mind both. Of the latter, works that focus on their relationship are virtually nonexistent.
