MuiTan is the slash ship between Muichiro Tokito and Tanjiro Kamado from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Muichiro and Tanjiro first met at the Hashira Meeting deciding if Nezuko should live or not. After that, Muichiro threw stones at Tanjiro for interrupting Oyakata-sama and tells him to never interrupt the master.
Swordsmith Village Arc[]

They met again at the Swordsmith Village, where Tanjiro saw Muichiro being rude to Kotetsu and tried to stop him but Muichiro knocked Tanjiro out. After that, Muichiro squeezed Tanjiro's nose to wake him up and asks about Kanamori-san, his new swordsmith, Tanjiro says he will help him look for Kanamori. Then, Muichiro asks why would he care about him, so Tanjiro tells him that helping the people can benefit him too. Muichiro's eyes sparkle and he shows emotion for the first time in years. But both were interrupted by Upper Moon 4, Hantengu, who Muichiro then beheaded. After that, Tanjiro has a feeling there may be a special condition like Gyutaro and Daki. He tells Muichiro not to let his guard down, as Hantengu makes a new clone, who threw Muichiro away in the forest. Muichiro sees Kotetsu in danger and helps him after remembering what Tanjiro says to him. Kotetsu tells Muichiro to help Kanamori-san as well and in that he encounters the Upper Moon 5, Gyokko who traps him. Muichiro sees Tanjiro tell him that he will not die and things his dad said, then Muichiro remembers that his father's eyes were red like Tanjiro's and manages not only to free himself but also to remember his tragic past, and because of that, Muichiro defeats the Upper Moon 5. When Muichiro goes to Tanjiro, he asks if Tanjiro is okay and thanks him for helping him remember something important, as Muichiro remembered his past because of what Tanjiro said.
During the Swordsmith Village Arc we learned that Sumiyoshi Kamado, one of Tanjiro's ancestors, was close friends with Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the younger twin brother of his ancestor, Michikatsu Tsugikuni (AKA Kokushibo). Sumiyoshi was one of Yoriichis most trusted friends, trusting him enough to gift him his earrings and demonstration of Sun Breathing. Due to how close they were, you could say it was destiny that made Tanjiro and Muichiro click so fast as they did.
Hashira Training Arc[]

In episode four of the Hashira Training Arc, Muichiro is excited to see Tanjiro, happily announcing how he was waiting for him upon seeing him. The other demon slayers took notice of their close bond and had asked Tanjiro if he could ask Muichiro to be easier on them, with that Tanjiro replies how it must be harder on Muichiro since he is the one training them all day everyday. When the other slayers are complaining about his harsh tone Tanjiro comments how he seemed to tone it down compared to before. During another day of training Muichiro expresses how he wants the other slayers to live a long life, with a gentle smile Tanjiro says his name.

A few days pass after that while Tanjiro and Muichiro are training, Muichiro constantly praises him while also showing some excitement and enjoyment while training Tanjiro. Afterwards, he happily tells Tanjiro he is allowed to move on to the next Hashira. This got a flustered and surprised reaction out of Tanjiro, due to the fact it had only been five days. Muichiro reiterates Tanjiro mastered everything he taught him so there was no need former training on his part.
Upon seeing how kind he was being, the other slayers ask if it is alright for them tome on as well considering they had been training for weeks. The question made Muichiro's entire mood changed as he coldly declined their request, claiming that they will be training until the practice dummy breaks. The slayers became distraught over how differently Muichiro acted when speaking with Tanjiro compared to them. Seeing how upset they were, Tanjiro thought of an idea and challenges Muichiro to a paper airplane throwing contest. This left Muichiro confused until Tanjiro explained he asked Kanamori about his interests, and since it is not far out of his reach, he decided to offer the challenge. If he wins, Muichiro has to speak to the core members a little more gently, Muichiro agrees to this challenge and states Tanjiro will never beat him. The challenge takes place and out of the ten rounds, Tanjiro lost every single one of them. A demon slayer decides to also challenge Muichiro to paper airplane throwing, as the other slayers chime in Muichiro and Tanjiro share a soft smile.
As they all create their paper airplanes, Muichiro offers to help a slayer with theirs. Tanjiro took notice and couldn't help but smile at Muichiro's kindness towards the other slayers.

When the time comes to throw the paper airplanes, Muichiro and Tanjiro are stand at the front and center, they share a small smile once again before throwing them into the sky. Watching as they flow through the wind, Muichiro looks at Tanjiro with a look of adoration as he smiles softly at him before pointing his attention back to the sky.

The episode comes to an end showing Muichiro and Tanjiro having a one on one conversation about Muzan and his plans with Nezuko. Despite all the negatives Tanjiro still remains positive which Muichiro comments how he likes that about him. The conversation turns to a serious tone when Muichiro tells him to defeat Muzan together, which Tanjiro agrees.
Infinity Castle Arc[]

During the Infinity Castle Arc, Muichiros life comes to an end during a battle with Upper Moon One, Kokushibo. As he meets his brother in the after life, he expresses he has no regrets and was born to be happy, stating he made friends as an image of him being smiley with Tanjiro along with others show. After a crow announces Muichiros death and Tanjiro cries over the loss of someone important to him.
Kimetsu Gakuen[]

In the spin off Kimetsu Gakuen, an alternate universe where all the characters live in a modern day universe, it is shown that Muichiro still harbors favoritism towards Tanjiro. As in chapter 5 of the series, he happily greets Tanjiro but when it came down to Zenitsu and Inosuke, he simply replies, “Um, hi.. You other guys.” showing that he didn't care as much for Tanjiro's friends. In chapter 8, Genya expresses that he needs help with tutoring. Tanjiro quickly gets an idea and the group makes their way to Muichiro's home. Since he is younger, Genya had his doubts but Tanjiro was quick to praise Muichiro for his intelligence, stating he is a child prodigy that can memorize everything in a book in one sitting. The only reason Muichiro had agreed to tutor Genya was because it was a request from Tanjiro. In chapter 21 of the series, it is the Tokito twins' birthday party and they had invited Tanjiro. The twins started bickering over a slice of pizza. Almost immediately, Muichiro slides to Tanjiro's side, wanting him to agree that Yuichiro was being unreasonable. As things blow up, Muichiro is quick to claim Tanjiro is on his side, wanting his validation and support.
Fanon[]
MuiTan is very well-received within the fandom, due to Muichiro blatant favoritism towards Tanjiro. People either began shipping them during chapter 106 (Season 3 Episode 3), when Tanjiro and Muichiro met again during Swordsmith Village Arc, or chapter 132 (Season 4 Episode 4), when Muichiro displayed his favoritism in Hashira Training Arc. The fandom seems to enjoy making jokes out of both scenes. Tanjiro seems to be an extremely important person to Muichiro, which justifies his special treatment towards him.
MuiTan fan works often include Yuichiro, Muichiro's twin brother, either being jealous of his brother or simply not approving of their relationship.
The ship rivals many pairings such as TanKana, a canon pairing, or fanon ships such as InoTan and ZenTan for Tanjiro. On Muichiro's side, this ship only rivals fanon pairings due to Muichiro not having a canon love interest. A few fanon ships rivalling MuiTan are MuiNezu and GenMui for Muichiro.

Trivia[]
- Tanjiro was the first person who made Muichiro show emotions in years.
- At first, Tanjiro and Muichiro’s crows didn't get along at all. However, after the Final Battle, Muichiro’s crow, Ginko, became sickly. Matsuemon, Tanjiro’s crow, comforted her and the two eventually got married.
