Muirliph is the het ship between Seliph and Muirne from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Seliph is the main character of the second half of Fire Emblem 4. Muirne is a playable character, a commoner, an orphan with no special bloodline who has a crush on her prince.
Seliph is the son of Sigurd, a noble of Grannvale. Some time before his death, Sigurd asked Oifey and Shannan (the prince of Isaach) to leave with Seliph to Isaach, where they could hide safely from the war. Seliph was raised at Tirnanog, a small town in northern Isaach. There Seliph met Muirne, an Isaachian commoner, and they both grew up together in Tirnanog alongside Deimne (Muirne's brother), and other orphans. During their childhood, Seliph spent a lot of time with Muirne.
In the 777 year of the Jugdral calendar, Seliph and his army started fighting the empire oppression and began to liberate Isaach. Muirne followed her friends to the fight. Muirne's brother Deimne warn her that she should avoid accidentally developing romantic feelings for a Prince like Seliph, as they're just mere commoners. After that, Seliph sized the Sophara Castle and he has a special conversation with Muirne. Seliph expresses that he is worried for her, and asks her to stay back and heal the people that can be eventually injured, but she insists that she wants to go with the others to the battlefield.
In Chapter 8, after the kingdom of Conote is captured, if all the recruited characters in the second generation are alive, Muirne has a conversation with Seliph in which they confess each other that they are scared and fear that they could die soon. They realise that they should keep fighting though, for the sake of their comrades and for a brighter future. In the final battle against the empire lead by the evil emperor Julius, if Seliph and Muirne are lovers, they have a conversation. Seliph says that Muirne means a lot to him she answer that she is happy to be with him. Then he comment that they have been close since their childhood, and admit that he has always liked her.
Seliph defeats Julius and became Grannvale new Emperor. In the epilogue if Muirne is his lover they wed. Muirne will became the empress of Grannvale by his side.

Fanon[]
Like most Genealogy of Holy Wars ships, Muirliph isn't very popular because the game was never released outside Japan. Muirne is a a somewhat obscure character that only appears if Edain is childless (which rarely happen in a normal playthrough, since Edain is a easy character to pair). In general those who get Muirne and her brother, choose to have them because some players consider that she -as well as other substitute characters - is more developed than her counterpart Lana. Though, most players generally choose Lana and Lester over Muirne and Deimne because they are considered to be better units mechanically.
The Muirliph is shipped for the same reason that of those who like Seliph with Lana, with both being the characters that have the highest love base with Seliph, in the beginning of the game (except Julia who have negative love growth), and the easiest characters to pair with him. Both ships are generally considered equivalent, since Lana takes Muirne's place or vice versa depending of the conditions. But a considerable amount of players consider that the pairing Muirliph is even more interesting than SeliLana, since Muirne has a special conversation with Seliph that Lana lacks, added to the fact that Muirne is a commoner with no special background, giving a new flavour to their dynamic.
Therefore, despite the obscurity of the game, there is still a small part of the fandom that ship Seliph with Muirne. The main reason is this special conversation between the two in chapter 8. This ship is liked because Muirne has a very low self-confidence and Seliph a impostor syndrome. The other reason that their relationship defy the social class since Seliph is a prince while Muirne is a commoner. This paring is also liked because the game begin with the war between Isaach and Grannvale and end by the marriage between the Grannvale's king and a Isaachian commoner (if Muirne and Seliph are lovers).
This ship is the main reason for Muirne's popularity compared to some of other substitutes children.
