Hero Hunt Arc[]
Chapter 46[]
Mumen Rider and Garou first met when Garou stepped into his path at night while Mumen was patrolling the area. The Hero Hunter tells him he is hunting him. Mumen Rider was at first confused by his sudden appearance and questioned what he meant by hunting. He also adds that he assumes Garou is not a fan of his. Garou replies that the hero is just one to help him get closer to his goal of becoming a true monster.
However, before Garou could do anything, the Tank Topper Army appears and gets his attention. Since Garou beat Tanktop Vegetarian some time ago, now others are looking for him. Before Vegetarian can say much, Garou once again brutally punches him in the face and the hero falls. Garou threatens to kill them all, but before he can do anything again, he is hit with more force than usual. Garou notices that Tanktop Master, an S-Class hero, has appeared and gets excited.
Chapter 47[]
Garou is hit again by Tanktop Master, who is observing him at the same time, and the S-Class hero notes that he needs to end this fight quickly before Garou gets the upper hand. Tanktop Master is about to land his finishing blow, but accidentally hits Mumen Rider when the C-Class hero suddenly jumped in front of Garou to protect him from Tanktop Master's continued beating on Garou. Since Garou is already really hurt, Mumen Rider calls out Tanktop Master for continuing to beat a mere punk which is not right, as in Mumen's eyes, Garou is already really hurt and unable to move. Tanktop Master agrees with him and Mumen Rider is glad.
They decide to let Garou go and tell him that hopefully he learned his lesson. Garou was about to leave, but then reveals that he's not going anywhere because he still has to "kill them all". Tanktop Master was ready to hit him once again, but Garou counterattacks at the same time and delivers a brutal blow to Tanktop Master, then continues a chain of attacks that damage the S-Class hero.
As Garou tries to finish off the rest of the Tank Topper Army, Mumen Rider suddenly attacks from behind him on his bicycle using his "Justice Crash" technique. However, Garou grabs Mumen's head and slams it to the ground a few times, leaving him bleeding and seriously injured. The Hero Hunter ends up defeating them all.
Chapter 48[]
Saitama comes to visit Mumen Rider in the hospital and the C-Class hero tells Saitama about Garou and how he is actually a human but bears the name of a monster. Mumen Rider could also tell that Garou's attacks were much different than Deep Sea King’s, and Tanktop Master joins the conversation to say that it's all about "technique".
Monster Association Arc[]
Mumen Rider was involved in saving the trapped people in the destroyed Z-City, and he was also one of the many heroes present during the time when Garou appeared in the monster form as "Awakened Garou: Cosmic Fear Mode" after being influenced by the "God" entity. In "the Ominous Future", everyone was killed by Garou, but Saitama travelled back time and saved them by defeating Garou. Mumen Rider took no part in harming Garou as the Tank Topper Army retaliated against him with couple of other heroes. Mumen Rider also didn't seem to show any ill will towards Garou throughout the MA arc.
Fanon[]
Although Mumarou can be considered a "rarepair” ship in the fandom, it is currently the second most popular ship for Garou and the first most popular for Mumen Rider (according to AO3). It gained popularity when more of Garou's background and reasons for his behavior were revealed, when it revealed that Garou was actually a much kinder person in his childhood, and he actually is not just a complete jerk, but instead has a deeper story. The possible relationship between Mumen Rider and Garou then became more interesting to the shippers and they started creating many fan works for the ship.
Mumarou's main rival ship is Batarou, as Garou is mainly shipped with Metal Bat. However, Mumen Rider also has many fan-favorite ships and that can in turn be considered rival ships to Mumarou, such as MumenSai, Speedal, and MumenMaster.
AO3 currently has more than 100 fanfics written for the ship.
