Nalopa is the family ship between Nala and Kopa from The Lion King fandom.
Canon[]
Kopa appears in several books, most notably the Six New Adventures series, which heavily feature his and Simba's relationship. In A Tale of Two Brothers, Nala felt that Simba should attend to a royal duty instead of honoring an earlier promise to Kopa. However, Rafiki persuaded Simba that he should keep his promise, and apparently convinced Nala as well. Kopa was thrilled by this, and he eagerly joined his parents in making a visit to the summit of Pride Rock.
In Nala's Dare, Kopa accepted a foolhardy dare because he felt the need to emulate Simba and Nala's courage. However, Rafiki notes that both Simba and Nala have had fearful experiences, and he suggests that Kopa ask his mother about a lion named Ni. Upon being asked, Nala shares the story of how Ni saved her when she once foolishly accepted a dare as Kopa had done. Ni also imparted a lesson that Nala then shares with Kopa. To her amusement, Kopa continues to question her.
In Vulture Shock, Nala joins Simba in going to rescue Kopa from a flock of vultures. In Friends for Life, Kopa befriended a young hyena named Asante in spite of the long-standing antagonism between lions and hyenas. He tells Nala about this encounter and is both reprimanded for going into hyena territory and praised for his compassion, as Asante had been in danger when Kopa first met her. Kopa later wishes to introduce Asante to his parents, and despite some initial fears resolves to do so.
In Fight for the Throne, Simba would break off a conversation with Kopa by suggesting that Nala was probably wondering where they both were. After Simba is exiled following the titular event, Nala remains in the Pride Lands while Kopa goes with his father. She later goes looking for them, and Kopa leads Nala to speak to Simba. When Simba refuses to do as Nala begs, Kopa takes matters into his own hands-or paws. As a result of his actions, Simba is restored to the throne and Kopa is able to return home with his mother.
Fanon[]
Nala and Kopa's relationship doesn't feature in many fan works due to Kopa's relative obscurity as a character. The introduction of Kiara and Kion as canon animated children of Simba and Nala largely overshadows Kopa. In spite of this, Kopa does have his fans, and a few works attempt to integrate him into the canon established by The Lion King II and The Lion Guard. Such works often explore the idea of Kopa returning after a long absence, usually having been assumed dead.
There are currently no works tagged for the relationship on AO3.
