NaruKiba is a Slash ship between Kiba Inuzuka and Naruto Uzumaki in the Naruto series.
Canon
Naruto and Kiba know each other because they attended the Ninja Academy together. They often skipped class together and got in trouble for doing so. However, they shared the dream of becoming Hokage and also had a rivalry because of this. Naruto and Kiba eventually have to fight against each other during an elimination round of the Chunin Exams. Kiba assumes that it will be an easy victory for him but Naruto ends up winning. This causes Kiba to respect him more.
Naruto eventually leaves the village to train for over two years. Kiba becomes a Chunin during this time period and is happy to be a step ahead of Naruto. When the two finally see each other again, Naruto shows more concern for the fact that Kiba's dog Akamaru has grown a lot. He tries to get Kiba to join him on a mission but he turns him down. When Pain attacks Konoha, Kiba watches the fight and puts his faith in Naruto.
Naruto and Kiba later fight in the Fourth Shinobi World War. Kiba warns Naruto not to act tough just because Hinata is there. Two years after the war ends, Naruto finally realizes his feelings for Hinata before she runs off with Toneri. Kiba explains to him that he always acted tough around her because he liked her. The two continue their rivalry to become Hokage but Naruto eventually wins.
Fanon
NaruKiba has a small amount of popularity in the Naruto fandom. It is not as popular as other ships involving the two as both have other characters whom they have interacted with a lot more. However, some fans still ship Naruto and Kiba together because of their similar personalities and the time that they used to spend together at the academy. NaruKiba tends to rival SasuNaru as well as other pairings involving the two.
Trivia
- The databooks state that Kiba desires a rematch with Naruto.
