Needlebook is the femslash ship between Needle and Book from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.

Battle for Dream Island Again[]
Needle and Book start off the season as teammates of Team No-Name. For the yoylestew challenge, Golf Ball sends Book and Needle, along with Spongy, Gelatin, and Ice Cube, to ride Puffball to Yoyleland. On the way, Needle ends up witnessing Gelatin push everyone else off.
The two become teammates again after Needle, and most of the other contestants, form The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute. When Needle shatters Ice Cube to keep their bowl cool, Book and the rest of the team tear up for a brief moment.
The episode after the team disbands, Needle ends up being swapped onto FreeSmart per Ruby's swap token. Book half-heartedly welcomes her on. Later after the dodgeball challenge, Needle tries to recall her act of sacrifice to be promoted to a full FreeSmart member. She tries to get Book to back her up only for her to say she was dead all of the last challenge.
In the next Cake at Stake when Pin calls for revenge against FreeSmart, Book, Needle, and Ruby follow Pencil into leaving the Cake at Stake area. As Pencil gets poisoned by a bug for trying to leave, Book calls out for Pencil and Needle sarcastically comments that they would never let such a thing happen. Later after Spongy crushes the host bugs, Ruby, Needle, and Book cheer as revenge for Pencil being poisoned by them. In the challenge, Ruby tries to get Needle, Book, and Pencil all in one team only for Eggy to split them up. Ruby decides to team up with Book, leaving Needle with a poisoned Pencil. Later after the four make it to the first island out of five, Needle asks Book about the supposed fuel they're supposed to find. Book tells her that the fuel is the cherry filling underground, clearing Needle's confusion. The two fill their jetpacks with the cherry filling as the rest of the duos make it up to the island. After Ruby and Book's jetpacks are filled, Needle angrily comments how she can't fill it as fast with Pencil still being poisoned. Book claims that she will give a talking to Pencil in the next alliance meeting before flying off. Later after Needle's jetpack is filled, she flies up and notices Book and Ruby falling, prompting her to make another act of sacrifice in hopes of being promoted. Needle throws her jetpack to the two, which Book notices. The two eagerly try to catch it only for Coiny and Pin to snatch it from them and fly away with it. Afterwards, Needle and a now unpoisoned Pencil use a pole to guide a waterfall down Book and Ruby's way, allowing the two to climb up to the next island. The four all celebrate together upon making it up the second island and bring Bubble along with them using a bubble blower. After Needle tries to slap Bubble for being called Needy, Book reminds them that they need to stick together as the team makes their way to the third island. Later after the team is sent back to said island to find an extra raft, each member checks through a section of a ship to find the raft. After Book finds a map inside, the team is trapped inside when Evil Leafy teleports inside. Book uses Needle to pry open a trapdoor below and she guides everyone out before Evil Leafy blocks her from getting out herself. As the rest of the team is about to move on, Needle asks to wait as they find out that Book has made it out as well. Evil Leafy teleports beside them again, making Needle crush her using the ship and finding the raft in the process. After making it back up to the island above, Book, Needle, and Pencil cheer after getting the raft.
Before Cake at Stake, FreeSmart is seen observing a chameleon and a caterpillar. Book tells them the caterpillar's scientific name, although Needle is more curious as to why it's shriveled up. Hearing from Book that it's dehydrated, Needle grabs a dropper to hydrate the caterpillar with. Pencil takes the dropper from Needle and insists that she, a full member, does it, making Book and Ruby cheer although Needle is still confused about it. After Cake at Stake when Book is startled by her prize for surviving, Needle asks if Book doesn't like her prize. Book would rather have the given cake in question, which gets thrown at her when she asks for it. As the next challenge requires 3 teams of 3, Pencil, Book, and Needle all team up as FreeSmarters. However, all of them get split up when everybody realizes the way the team mats were actually arranged. In the start of the challenge, Needle quickly gathers Pencil and Book and urgently asks if they'll get back together next time. Pencil assures her so as Nickel, one of Book's teammates for the challenge, calls for Book. Nickel brings Book back to their team as Pencil asks Needle for her act of sacrifice. As Needle tries to get Book to back her up about sacrificing her jetpack, she gets angry when Book is no longer beside her to support her.
In the next challenge, W.O.A.H. Bunch and FreeSmart put Needle under pressure when the two teams ask for which one she'll stay in. When Needle decides to play for both, Book points out that she is going to be put up for elimination for it. In the challenge, Needle checks up on FreeSmart and finds Pencil and Book praising the FreeSmart SuperVan. She joins the two in praising the van after being told that a full member would do so. After Pencil and Book get in the FreeSmart SuperVan, Needle decides to use two sticky notes to show which team she's playing for in the challenge, being allowed in when wearing the sticky note resembling Pencil. When Needle points out W.O.A.H. Bunch chasing them, she gets the idea to hide it underwater so Pin's mech suit can't get it. Asked by Pencil for a place to hide it, Book suggests the desert and adds that there's a oasis with a huge lake to put the van in. Needle asks how far away it is as Book says that they'll run out of gas before they get there. However, with there being a gas station on the way, Pencil reluctantly goes with the idea. Book enjoys the idea of a road trip and Needle sings a song for them when the radio is too annoying for Book and Pencil. However, not long after Needle starts singing, the three are interrupted when Pencil accidentally drives through the middle of a fork in the road. Upon reaching the desert, Pencil turns on the air conditioner and Book calls out for Needle when it ends up blowing her out of the van. When Needle catches up, Pencil asks for her to push the van in not realizing that Book is still inside. Right as Book screams this, the van falls into the oasis and Needle notices Book being trapped right afterwards. Later after Needle catches a flying FreeSmart SuperVan to prevent it from crushing Pencil, Book hops out and says that she was saved as well. Book and Pencil both clap for Needle saving them only to realize that Needle was wearing her other sticky note resembling Pin, meaning that Needle has tagged FreeSmart out of the challenge. Book and Pencil then blatantly tell Needle that she failed them, only for Pin to crush the two using the van.
After Cake at Stake when W.O.A.H. Bunch celebrates making it to the final 7, Book asks Needle if she's happy that FreeSmart is running as well. Coiny and Pin put the idea down, making Book tell Needle that they're the only ones left to keep FreeSmart alive with Pencil gone. Needle thinks of playing for both teams again, although Book suggests that she just pick a side since she nearly got eliminated for playing two teams. As Coiny convinces Needle to stick with W.O.A.H. Bunch, Book grabs onto Needle and calls them one alternate to another, referring to them both being FreeSmart alternates. However, the constant pressure of choosing a team, as well as Tennis Ball and Nickel joining in, causes Needle to kick everyone away and team up with Fries instead. Later after Needle and Fries set off to Yoyle City to find Evil Leafy, Book follows the two, needing Fries as payment for her makeover. After Needle and Fries get on top of a tree, Book takes Fries and Needle decides to go after her to get Fries back. As Needle chases after Book, a crack in the ground forms between the two and Coiny and Pin emerge from it. Book grabs back onto Fries, making Needle chase after her along with Coiny and Pin following them.
During the sky lighting challenge, Book finds Needle and Fries stuck on the watchtower asks the two if they would need help. Needle appreciates the help while Fries is annoyed by the offer. When Fries ends up causing Book to fly away by putting a beacon on her face, Needle yells at Fries for chasing Book away and preventing her from helping them. Later on, Needle gets stuck tied on the side of a final tower from a grappling hook. As Needle is saddened when Tennis Ball apologizes for not being able to help her, Book unties Needle from the wall and orders Needle to come with. However, Needle trying to use the hook to pull Tennis Ball back ends up knocking her off as well.
The Power of Two[]
During the balance beam challenge, Needle starts attacking the members of Book's team, Just Not. Book grasps onto Needle and warns her, only for Needle to repeatedly slam Book on the balance beam.
Fanon[]
Needlebook is a rarepair in the Battle for Dream Island fandom. The ship was further rare at first, mostly enjoyed by fans of the two characters liking the idea of their potential dynamic. In the second season as Needle began playing as a FreeSmarter, the two now being on the same team opened up the idea as following episodes built onto this. Several moments afterwards got fan to appreciate their dynamic more, in terms of the season showing Book still wanting to support Needle even with the constant pressure for Needle to pick a team, and Book still helping her in challenges when competing for themselves. In terms of ships within FreeSmart, the pairing is rivaled by those such as Needlecil and Icebook.
