Needledrop is the femslash ship between Needle and Teardrop from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Battle for Dream Island[]
In the team picking part, Leafy chooses Teardrop and Needle (back to back). After creating the Squashy Grapes, the challenge starts, Needle and Teardrop (and the rest of the team, except Flower) get to building their yacht. Neither of them boards the yacht for the challenge. At the end of the challenge, Needle and Teardrop (along with Tennis Ball, Snowball, Firey, Golf Ball, Woody, Match, and Rocky) float on Spongy’s back.
Needle uses herself to get past the "find a needle in a haystack" which Firey and Teardrop were both stuck on. Both Needle and Teardrop finish first for their team. Needle then tells Teardrop to get more water in the vats to stay ahead of Firey. Together, they win the contest for the Squashy Grapes.
Teardrop and Needle (and their teammates) try to do the challenge together, unfortunately Needle’s test is burned, leaving Teardrop (and Golf Ball) as the only ones to complete theirs. Thanks to Pen and Blocky's cheating, Needle and Teardrop's team wins.
Needle convinces Teardrop to help her vote out Firey, and Teardrop follows through. Needle shows her happiness after Teardrop obeys her, happily exclaiming ‘Yeah!’ when Teardrop votes for Firey.
Needle votes for Firey to win. Most contestants slap her for it, but Teardrop notably does not, showing their close bond.
Battle for Dream Island Again[]
In the team picking scene in BFDIA 1, the original contestants team up including Teardrop and Needle. This team dominates the much smaller one in the tug of war challenge.
Needle is shocked by her friend’s elimination in BFDIA 4 and later in the episode becomes angry at Coiny’s joke ('Any first words?') toward Teardrop.
Teardrop hosts in BFDIA 14 (along with the other Locker of Losers' members), and in the end, listened to Needle's lullaby along with the other LOLers.
Firey calls Needle “not interesting,” prompting Needle to call out: “TD, help me get Firey!” Teardrop responds by crushing Firey while in the Locker of Losers. During Teardrop’s part of the challenge, Teardrop is seen happily staring at Needle when she is angry with Tennis Ball, later Needle crushes the bugs, winning the prize. Needle asks Teardrop what her prize is, Teardrop then boots Needle forward, giving her a small “goodbye”, waving and following along.
Battle for BFDI[]
Needle, Teardrop, and Pin sit together. When Needle unexpectedly becomes CGI, Teardrop appears concerned.
The Power of Two[]
Eraser and Teardrop's shenanigans also result in Team8s losing the contest, which accidentally dooms Needle's team.
Fanon[]
Needledrop is a somewhat niche but still well-liked ship in the fandom, Although they only have minor interactions, the ship originates in the first season where they are depicted as close friends, due to their early elimination the ship isn't that popular, they didn’t interact much in other seasons, but they are still depicted as close friends. Fans speculate that they may have interacted offscreen.
The ship is one of the most popular ships for both Teardrop and Needle, other ships that can rival that are Wooddrop, Geladrop, Pindrop, Peneedle and Pineedle (ironically, Pin is shipped with both of them.)
Even though it isn’t among the most popular ships, the fans have created numerous works celebrating Needledrop, including fanfiction, art, and TikTok edits.
