Nekomaeda is the slash ship between Nekomaru Nidai and Nagito Komaeda from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Both Nagito and Nekomaru are students in Class 77-B, both are featured in the Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy anime. They are also featured in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair in which they are participants in the Killing School Trip. In the Killing School Trip, they both play the role of the victim in back-to-back chapters. Both were also willing to die. Nekomaru agreed to fight Gundham Tanaka to the death while Nagito set up a trap for his classmates in which he died. Though, Nagito was planning to die while Nekomaru did not plan to die.
Anime[]
In Episode 02 of the Danganronpa 3 anime you can see Nagito sitting at his desk, during Akane Owari and Nekomaru Nidai's deadly training session in the class. Without saying anything, Nagito happily watched their fight. In Super Danganronpa 2.5: Komaeda Nagito to Sekai no Hakaimono Nekomaru happens to appear in Nagito's imaginary world, following his death in the Neo World Program.
Game[]
In the prologue of the game, Nagito introduces Hajime Hinata to everyone, including Nekomaru. Nagito seemed to know information on Nekomaru as he told Hajime about Nekomaru. Throughout the game, Nagito admires everyone in his class, except Hajime and himself, for having talents. He called them symbols of hope and even put himself down to be a stepping stone for the symbols of hope. It wasn't until after Nekomaru's death when he discovered the class' past of being Remnants of Despair and stopped admiring them.
We see Nekomaru working with Kazuichi Soda in the second chapter to tie up Nagito. They kept him confined in the old building near the hotel, afraid that Nagito might become dangerous if left unwatched. But the two at least didn't let Nagito starve and had Mahiru Koizumi give him food before Hajime ended up giving him food instead. Though the other students protest their course treatment of Nagito. After this event they have barely any interaction with each other, to no interaction at all.
Fanon[]
Nekomaeda is one of the rare pairs within its fandom. This ship easily gets overshadowed by Komahina and Akanidai. Even though this ship is considered a rare pair and can be easily forgotten, it is still being shipped by some people. There isn't a lot of fan art of the two together. Though, they currently have 17+ works on AO3.
This ship is usually shipped because of how Nekomaru grew up in a hospital, and probably Nagito did to because of his disease, this is also because of the Despair Disease, and Nagito did stay in a hospital for a short time.
The ship name "Lucky Manager" comes from Nagito and Nekomaru's talent; The Ultimate Lucky Student, The Ultimate Team Manager.
