Nevinny is the het ship between Neville Longbottom and Ginny Weasley from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
Neville and Ginny are good friends in canon and are both members of the silver trio. Ginny is mostly likely the person Neville is closest too, as he was not friends with Luna until fifth year. Neville asked Ginny to the Yule ball in his fourth year. They were both members of The D.A and Neville tried to protect Ginny from Cassius Warrington at the end of Order of The Phoenix. Ginny is also one of the few students to know the truth about Neville's parents.
In Ginny's sixth year they presumably spent a lot of time together as Luna, Ron, Harry and Hermione were gone. Along with Luna, Neville and Ginny led the re-formed Dumbledore’s Army. This would have meant they had a lot of trust in each other because on of them snitch the other would be facing torture. They also both fought along side each other in the battle of Hogwarts. In the end however, Ginny ended up with Harry, and Neville with Hannah.
Neville and Ginny go through very similar character arcs. They both begin the series as shy, scared, little kids and end as brave, strong heroes. Ginny becomes more confident earlier on, which would balance out Neville's insecurity. Ginny has a crush on Harry in Chamber of Secrets. Because of this fans like the idea of her falling for Neville; The Other Chosen One.

Ginny and Neville are not one of the most popular ships in the fandom, as they tend to be overpowered by the Neville/Luna shippers. Many also people see them as platonic. They have a reputation for being a leftover ship freeing Harry for other pairings. However, they still have their fans who believe that they would have made a very interesting pairing in canon and could have been a very cute couple. The pairing was first suggested on a fan website in 2002 and is often seen alongside Harry/Hermione and Ron/Luna. This group is known as S.S. Dumbledore's Army. The group of Ron/Luna and Neville/Ginny is known as A Different Happy Weasley Family.
