Nickloon is the slash ship between Balloon and Nickel from the Inanimate Insanity fandom.
Canon[]
Nickel and Balloon are best friends with well-developed rapport between them. Their relationship started as one-sided, as Nickel strongly disliked Balloon while Balloon never hated Nickel, but wished to be on good terms. In Inanimate Insanity Invitational, Balloon proposed to Box and Nickel to work together for the sake of their team. Nickel only agreed on behalf of Box and to keep his enemy (Balloon) closer. However, Nickel realized that when you keep them close they start to change you. As the season progressed the two were in a state of conflict due to Balloon being upset for Nickel trying to ignore the past that can't be forgotten, and for the fact Nickel didn't take accountability for his actions. But once Nickel owned up to his actions and apologized, the two became stronger (relationship-wise) and even resulted in Nickel being eliminated to increase Balloon's chances of winning. In general, the friendship between them results in a healthy and powerful bond.

The Reality of the Situation[]
In this episode, as Balloon and Suitcase are talking about how much has changed since their separation, Balloon praises Nickel by how he owned up to all his mistakes. Then, when Suitcase asks how they even started talking, Nickel walks into the scene and states Balloon begged to work with him. Their playful banter causes the two to laugh together.

Stranded In Paradise[]
Nickel complains about being stranded on an island with Balloon. Balloon isn't happy about this and they argue until interrupted by OJ. Later in the episode, Nickel jumps off a cliff and asks Balloon to catch him. After the challenge, Balloon compliments Nickel for putting the team first and asks him to continue doing that. Nickel consults his associate Box about it. During the Elimination Time, MePhone4 says that Nickel and Balloon wouldn't stop bickering, with Balloon replying that "It was pretty one-sided".
The Shame of the Name[]
Nickel questions Balloon asking if he was sure he had voted for Blueberry and not him, Balloon says that he is sure of it. Balloon then goes on teasing Nickel asking if he was sure he didn't vote himself. Nickel replies that he didn't pull a Balloon and that It's not likely he did. Later in the episode, when Nickel complains to Lifering about their team name, Balloon tells Lifering to ignore him .
Snapshot Showdown[]
When Nickel says that he is gonna put an end to Clover's lucky streak, Balloon replies "No you won't". After the team notices that Nickel is missing, Balloon suggests that they go look for him. When Balloon eventually finds him and asks him where he was, Nickel says that he was trying to get an embarrassing photo of Clover. Balloon tells him that there was no way that was gonna work, and why he couldn't have picked anyone else. Nickel replies asking why Balloon doesn't ever believe in him. Balloon gets upset telling Nickel that he never believed in him and made a whole personality out of it. Nickel laughs and says that he now knows what would happen if he said that. Nickel says that maybe it's jus the sheer exhaustion, but he's glad to see Balloon (And Box). He then asks Balloon if he'd like to chill out, and Balloon replies with "I guess". After the challenge, where the Sinkers ended up losing, MePhone4 announces that Balloon won the immunity vote, and Nickel cheers and seems pretty happy about it.
Tragedy at 60 Feet[]
The episode starts with Nickel complaining to Balloon about the photos he took on *Snapshot Showdown*. He also bickers about Clover, and Balloon says that they should be worried about Box voting them out in the last two eliminations their team had. Nickel tells him that Box is with them to the bitter and, and starts saying that "Box is the only reason he and Balloon are.. (friends!!!)", before shutting himself up and changing the subject. Balloon asks what he was going to say, but Tea Kettle interrupts and talks about their "alliance". Nickel says that he is repulsed, and Balloon tells him to calm down. During the challenge, Nickel complains about TK bothering Box to form an alliance, and Balloon says they sould go easy on Box, "after all, he's the only reason we are tolerating eachother". Nickel tells him that he never said that, and Balloon replies that he didn't need to. Afer the challenge, Balloon pats Nickel in the back after Nickel apologised to him and TK.

Fanon[]
Nickloon is a popular ship in the Inanimate Insanity fandom. It gained its popularity from Inanimate Insanity Invitational due to the fact Balloon and Nickel developed a friendship despite being former enemies. Antis of this ship argue that it would be toxic because of how Nickel treated Balloon in the past, despite having a genuine and well-developed friendship. On AO3, the ship has gained over 110+ fanfics and it's the most written ship for both Balloon and Nickel. Bickel (Baseball x Nickel) and Suitloon (Suitcase x Balloon) are the rivalry ships for this pairing.
PuppyRelp's Nickloon Video(Not Canon)[]
On April 15th of 2022, PuppyRelp posted a video titled, "Nickloon II Original Inanimate Insanity Animatic". At the time it gained mainly positive feedback and after its release it was small on views. Until, someone reposted his video as a sped-up dub with crunchy quality as a meme. This meme went viral in the Inanimate Insanity community and led to an increase of views on this video. The video currently stands at around 370,000 views and is known as, "The Nickloon Video".
The Video[]
The video starts with Nickel being eliminated and preparing to be punched by the "Fist Thingy" until Balloon stops him. Seemingly, Balloon was going to confess his feelings verbally, however, he stops and instead walks towards Nickel and cups his cheeks. Afterward, Balloon kisses Nickel in front of the other "Thinkers" and Nickel leans into the kiss, closing his eyes. Once Mephone4 ushered them to hurry, the kiss ends, and Balloon confesses his love to Nickel before he is punched into the sky. Nickel screams I love you back and the video ends with Balloon falling to his knees and his eyes being covered by his blush.

- Both are two out of only three contestants who have competed in all three seasons of Inanimate Insanity, with the only other one being Paintbrush.
- In a Twitter post, it was revealed by Brian Koch that, "Nickel needs Balloon way more than he realizes".
- In the "Inanimate Insanity II: The Movie Act 1 LIVE CHAT", at 2:33:14, it was asked, "Brian do you think Nickel would be at least A LITTLE BIT gay for Balloon? I'm pretty sure he would..." Brian responded saying sure, everyone's a little bit gay.
- In the "I'm the Inanimate Insanity Trailer Leaker, This Is My Confession: Chapter One | Episode One", at 43:33, it was asked, "do you think nickel would be a knifecaser?? ^_^", Justin made a joke about Nickel wanting more attention from Balloon and being happy that it's not Ballooncase (Suitloon) on the table. (But overall, Nickel would be like "Good for them!" if Knife and Suitcase were in an actual relashionship.)
- In the "Inanimate Insanity S2E17 Q&A", it was asked a "silly fun fact or scenario of nickel and balloon together", and Brian said that Balloon has practiced his poetry to Nickel; and Nickel, in order to be a good friend, has to sit throught all of it.
