Night In The Woods is a video game.
Plot[]
20-year-old Mae Borowski is forced to return to her hometown of Possum Springs after dropping out of college. She spends the first few days back home trying to catch up on old times with her friends, Gregg, Bea and Angus. She asks them if they've seen their friend Casey, but they haven't seen him since this spring, with them suspecting that he "hopped a train" and essentially ghosted them. On the same day, Mae and friends find a dismembered arm outside of the local diner, which they regard as somewhat odd.
Mae spends the following days further trying to get closer to her friends and is given the chance to hang out with Gregg or Bea almost every day, along with being able to talk to every character in her neighborhood, which occasionally involves "informal" hangouts, putting the story on pause, but not ending the day like scripted hangouts with Gregg or Bea would.
It takes until "Harfest", the Possum Springs Halloween celebration for Mae to put the pieces together and realize that Casey's disappearance probably wasn't out of his own free will...
