Nirmion is the het ship between Nirmala and Kion from The Lion King fandom.
Canon[]
Nirmala and Kion's first encounter is in The Lion Guard season three episode "The Tree of Life", which also serves as Nirmala's introduction to the series. Their respective teams, the Night Pride and the Lion Guard, become engaged in a brief conflict after Kion's group is mistaken for hostile invaders. Nirmala and her teammates Surak and Rani were then overawed as Kion sent their companion Balyio flying using the Roar of the Elders. Upon later being instructed to welcome the newcomers, Nirmala remarks that they will have to be cautious in their interactions with Kion due to his Roar. She and her teammates return to find Kion and his friends patiently waiting at the border to their territory, and the Night Pride then lead the Lion Guard into the confines of the Tree of Life.
In "The River of Patience", Nirmala examines Kion at the bidding of Queen Janna of the Tree of Life, and Nirmala quietly shares her findings with the queen. Nirmala's assessment of Kion is that his healing will take some time, as he is dealing not only with an envenomed scar but with a troubled spirit. Upon learning this, Kion asks to begin as quickly as possible, and Nirmala readily accepts the task of beginning immediately. She leads Kion to Dirishe, the River of Patience, and explains that he will take the first step in his healing journey here. When Kion wonders how long the process will last, Niramal responds that Kion will determine that by his ability to exercise patience.
Nirmala then instructs her to bring a flower from the top of a ridge on the other side of the river, but she asks specifically that he wait to jump onto a passing log and from there to a sandy stretch on the opposite bank. When Kion asks why he can't just swim across the river, Nirmala notes that speed isn't necessarily the best approach. Reluctantly, Kion heeds her advice and settles in to wait, even after Nirmala notes that this might take several days. Later, as Kion expresses frustration, Nirmala reminds him that he was sent to the Tree of Life for his healing, perhaps because it was at the Tree of Life that the leader of the original Lion Guard gained the power of the Roar of the Elders. Kion is intrigued by this revelation, but he becomes distracted as a log finally arrives.
When Kion's attempt to jump on the log dumps him into the water, Nirmala instructs Kion to wait for the arrival of another log. Later, Rani comes to collect Nirmala for Night Pride duties, and Nirmala orders Kion to continue in his assigned task. Kion would defy these orders and come to join the Night Pride, but Nirmala subsequently escorted him back to the bank of the river. Annoyed, Kion again noted that he could accomplish the task of obtaining the flower more quickly by his own means, but Nirmala encourages him to trust her and Queen Janna's counsel. While attempting to jump onto another log, Kion once again falls into the water, and angrily decides to swim across the river instead.
Not attempting to interfere, Nirmala jumps onto a long herself and crosses the river before calling out to Kion, who discovers that the river's current is stronger than he had expected. After helping coach him across the river, Nirmala urges Kion to follow her path, but he refuses in the belief that his chosen route is better. To Kion's chagrin, Nirmala makes it to the ridge where the flower waits while he's still struggling to reach it. Jumping down to join him, Nirmala informs a surprised Kion that she didn't collect the flower because doing so is the task that he has been set. She then encourages Kion to get some sleep, as he is to return to the task tomorrow until he accomplishes it.
Kion expresses frustration to his teammates over Nirmala's instructions, but with their encouragement resolves to keep trying. When her teammate Rani questions how Kion's healing is going, Nirmala remarks amusedly that Rani's inquiry is quite similar to Kion's. The next day, Nirmala is surprised to find Kion waiting for her at the River of Patience, and pleased when he expresses his willingness to do as she asks. A log happens to pass at that moment, and Kion leaps aboard successfully to Nirmala's obvious pleasure. Kion ends up falling again, but this time is able to remount the log to Nirmala's delight before she is once again called away to join the Night Pride.
When Kion volunteers to join Nirmala, she once again instructs him to accomplish the task she has given him, noting that it is an exercise in focus. Later, seeing Nirmala and her teammates in battle with several invaders, Kion wishes to go to their aid but stops himself, remembering Nirmala's instructions. Having retrieved the flower, he rushes to join the Night Pride in battle, and Nirmala later advises Kion on a route as he pursues the enemy. Afterwards, Kion regretfully informs Nirmala that the flower she asked him to retrieve has been destroyed. However, Nirmala notes that the flower itself wasn't actually important, and Kion guesses-and Nirmala confirms-that while he's begun his healing journey, there is more yet to do.
In "Little Old Ginterbong", Nirmala continues Kion's treatment by having him cover his face in mud to help deal with the venom in his scar. Having been seen in this unlikely state by his teammates, Kion asks Nirmala's permission to clean it off, and she grants it to his relief. She notes that Kion is continuing to improve, but that there remains a journey ahead of him, which Kion accepts resignedly. Later, Nirmala greets most of the Lion Guard-Kion included-and introduces them as friends to a fearful new arrival at the Tree of Life. After Ono's healing, Nirmala asks Kion if he's ready to continue his own treatment, and the two depart, with the Lion Guard later describing their activities to the newcomer.
In "Poa the Destroyer", Nirmala leads Kion off yet again for a healing session after his friend Bunga is awakened one morning. Their latest activity sees Kion allowing a number of frogs to jump on top of him, which Nirmala informs Kion is meant to help him learn to maintain composure. When Kions asks how long he has to allow the frogs to amuse themselves, Nirmala responds that the frogs themselves will determine that. However, when Rani arrives to speak to Kion, Kion asks permission to move, and Nirmala allows him to do so. In "Long Live the Queen", Nirmala and Kion-along with the rest of the Night Pride-are summoned to Queen Janna as she is about to pass away.
In "The Lake of Reflection", after the Night Pride and Lion Guard arrange to defend the Tree of Life from the invaders in shifts, Nirmala informs Kion that they have another healing session to begin. She leads him to Pratibamba, the episode's titular lake, and instructs him to look at his reflection and describe it. Kion's eyes are drawn to his scar, and he expresses the hope that it will soon be gone. Nirmala, however, questions what he will do if he is forced to bear the scar for the rest of his life.
Kion is appalled by this prospect, having believed that his healing would remove the scar and allow him to return to life as it once was. Nirmala offers Kion comfort, noting that having a scar doesn't change who he is and that it is time he recognized this fact. Tired from a night's patrol, Nirmala departs, surprising Kion who had expected her to continue helping him. However, Nirmala informs Kion that she has done all she can to help his healing, and that he can only complete the task on his own.
After giving the parting advice that he must consider his past actions and those that lie in his future, Nirmala leaves. Kion later shares with Rani Nirmala's counsel about the scar, and he expresses the worry that he won't be able to continue in his role as leader of the Lion Guard. During a later battle with the invaders, Kion asks Nirmala to join him and Fuli in facing two of the enemy while their respective teammates go after the others. In "Triumph of the Roar", after seeing Kion's performance in a battle with the enemy, Nirmala declares that Kion has reached the end of his healing. She later repeats this assertion after seeing that Kion has not only regained his confidence in using the Roar, but has also achieved an unprecedented mastery of its power.

Nirmion is a rarepair within The Lion King franchise. Nirmala appears to be somewhat older than Kion, though just how significant of age difference it is was unclear. Kion is canonically paired with Nirmala's queen and teammate Rani, whereas Nirmala is more commonly paired in fan works with Rani's uncle Surak. Any supporters of Nirmion may see a potential Florence Nightingale Effect taking place, as Nirmala is charged with Kion's healing during his time at the Tree of Life.
