- “Love doesn’t weaken us. It makes us stronger. I wish Padmé and I could show [Obi-Wan] that. He’s very alone.”
- — Anakin, The Clone Wars: Wild Space by Karen Miller
Obianidala is the poly ship between Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala from the Star Wars fandom.
Canon[]
Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives with his Master to negotiate with the Trade Federation on Naboo, Padmé's home planet. Obi-Wan and Padmé meet, when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn rescue her from Camp Four. When Padmé's ship breaks, she is forced to stay on Tatooine for it to get fixed. There, they come across young Anakin. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon sense Anakin's high level of midi-chlorians, the Jedi Counsil is wary, but they convince them anyway. After Qui-Gon's death, Obi-Wan makes Anakin his Pawan. Before Anakin is taken into training, he asks to see Padmé one last time, not knowing the handmaiden he is speaking with is herself in disguise.
A decade passes, and Anakin, a long with Kenobi, arrive at Padmé's apartment on Coruscant. Anakin is nervous, and Obi-Wan tries to calm him down. Anakin is very glad to see Padmé, and she is pleasantly surprised to see Anakin having grown into a handsome man, which Obi-Wan points out. The three sit down to discuss the plan to use Padmé as a bait to lure out whoever is making attempts to assassinate her. That night, someone tried to assassinate Amidala using poisonous arthropods. Kenobi and Skywalker rush into the bedroom right in time to prevent the deadly attack. Anakin kills the creatures, and Obi-Wan jumps out of Padmé's window to catch whoever or whatever it was that released the arthropods. Obi-Wan and Anakin chase after the assassin and manage to capture them.
The Council makes a decision to have Anakin protect Queen Amidala, while Obi-Wan should investigate the assassination attempts. On Naboo, Padmé and Anakin grow closer, and he confesses his feelings to her, however they decide not to pursue a relationship, since the Jedi are prohibited from forming attachment. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan finds out the identity of the unlucky assassin and after sending a message, he is captured on planet Geonosis. The Council orders Anakin to stay with Amidala, but she is determined to help Obi-Wan, and convinces Anakin to disobey the order. The rescue attempt is unsuccessful, and they are captured, too. Before the execution the Petranaki Arena begins, Padmé confesses her love for Anakin.
While Anakin and Obi-Wan seem to have given up, Padmé gets out of the handcuffs and helps her friends. The three cooperate very well, and manage to climb on the reek, deployed to kill them. When Mace Windu arrives to aid them, and the battle erupts, the three engage in fighting with the enemies. Afterwards, Anakin and Padmé get married in a secret ceremony on Naboo.

Anakin and Padmé hide the nature of their relationship, but Obi-Wan easily deduced their deception. In The Clone Wars episode "The Rise of Clovis", he has a talk with Anakin trying to resonate with his friend, but Anakin is not receptive. When Anakin falls to the Dark side and is named Darth Vader, Obi-Wan comes to pregnant Padmé's apartment to ask her about his whereabouts. She doesn't believe him, but when Obi-Wan mentions that he knows the child is Anakin's, Padmé breaks into tears. After that conversation, she goes to Mustafar to face Anakin, not knowing that Obi-Wan is hiding in her ship. When she confronts her husband, and pleads him to refuse the call of the Dark side, Obi-Wan reveals himself and Anakin, driven mad with jealousy, chokes Padmé. Obi-Wan circles her protectively to make sure she is alive, before igniting his lightsaber and fighting Anakin.
After Anakin is defeated, Obi-Wan collects Padmé, and they leave Mustafar. He carries unconscious Padmé to the medical unit, where she gives birth to Anakin's twins. With her final breath she tells Obi'Wan, that Anakin still has goodness inside his heart. From that day, Obi-Wan and his former padawan and friend become enemies, until they meet for the final time, when Darth Vader kills Obi-Wan. After Anakin's death, his son Luke sees Anakin and Obi-Wan's force-ghosts standing side by side.

Fanon[]
Obianidala is the most written Prequel Trilogy poly ship on Archive of Our Own, and the second most written poly ship in the Star Wars tag on the whole. It is its trilogy main trio, following the Original Trilogy's Han, Luke, and Leia. Many fans of the trio especially enjoy The Clone Wars series and supplemental material such as Star Wars novels. Some fans of Obianidala hoped for Rey, the Sequel Trilogy protagonist, to be Obi-Wan Kenobi's descendant, so her romance with Anakin and Padmé's grandson could signify a symbolic union between Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan. The majority of fan works either focus on the timeline between Attack of The Clones and Revenge of The Sith, or in the alternate universe, where Anakin didn't join the Dark Side.
