Odypso is the het ship between Odysseus and Calypso from the The Odyssey fandom.
Canon[]
After a shipwreck had killed most of his crew, Odysseus found himself on shore of the hidden island Ogygia, having miraculously survived. That is where Calypso finds him, whilst nursing him back to health, she grows infatuated with him. Odysseus is incredibly charmed by her singing, which calms him to the point where he lost all urgency to go home, and the spell around the island makes it so that Odysseus could never grow old. Calypso tried to keep him as her immortal husband, trying to justify her plans by recounting that the Olympians routinely fall for mortals only for them to perish before reaching immortality. Calypso tries to make Odysseus into a god so that wouldn't happen to him.
However, Athena heard Odysseus crying on shore, deep in his heart, he longs to be finally at home with his family. When reporting this to her father Zeus, the king of the gods refuses to meddle with Calypso's affairs. Instead he sends his son Hermes the messenger to try and persuade Calypso to let the man go herself. Though she receives Hermes cordially, her tone immediately becomes harsh once Hermes tells her to allow Odysseus to leave. She points out the hypocrisy of goddesses never being allowed to stay with their lovers, but she wouldn't be able to send him home even if she wanted to, she herself is trapped on this island. Hermes leaves after telling Calypso that Zeus would be even angrier at her if she refuses to send Odysseus away, leaving Calypso conflicted on what she should do next.
When Calypso finds Odysseus, he had been crying at shore like he did since he met her. Calypso reached out to him, telling him that she allows him to leave, he would have to build a raft by himself. Calypso will assist him by providing food, drink and clothing for his journey, telling him to trust the gods to find the way back home. Odysseus, who is used to his hosts betraying his trust, immediately gets suspicious of the goddess suddenly acting fair towards him. When Calypso tells him how genuinely sorry she is about what happened to him, Odysseus follows her into her cave home, where she feeds him with regular food and saving the nectar and ambrosia for herself. Before wishing him good luck, Calypso gives Odysseus one last chance to stay with her, knowing how dangerous his remaining journey would be. Odysseus tells her that she shouldn't compare herself to his wife and he doesn't care if a god smites him on his way home. She assisted him in building his raft by providing good material, it took for days for him to finish it and she bid him farewell at the fifth. According to Homer, Odysseus was trapped on Ogygia for seven years.
