Old Silver is the het ship between Maria Calavera and Pietro Polendina from the RWBY fandom.
Canon[]
There has not been much interaction between Maria and Pietro. However, it was revealed in volume 7 that Pietro was the one who made Maria's prosthetic eyes after she lost her real eyes to Tock.
Although we don't know when the two met, it's presumed they met before the events of RWBY. Maria revealed in volume 7 that she often comes and visits Pietro every 10 years so he can perform maintenance on her prosthetic eyes. In volume 7, chapter 1 when Maria and the rest of the group visit Pietro at his clinic, he forgets she needed new prosthetics until she reminded him.
Later it was revealed that Maria and Pietro are old friends with each other and have known each other for a long time. Maria has a very high personal opinion of Pietro and deems him to be Atlas' brightest mind and greatest inventor. Pietro in return reciprocates this and also sees Maria as a very dear close old friend.
During Ruby's Group's arrival at Atlas, Maria primarily stayed with Pietro while Ruby and her friends stayed within Atlas Academy as they worked with James Ironwood. In volume 7 chapter 7, Maria can be seen comforting Pietro when he reveals to Ruby, Weiss, and Maria that he cannot donate anymore of his Aura to restore Penny if she gets destroyed again, otherwise he will die. He then smiles down at her.
Later, as seen in volume 7 chapter 9, Maria showed concern for Pietro due to the massive riot erupting all over Mantle and later the massive Grimm invasion. She then attempted to have him come with her inside the clinic for safety. In volume 8 chapter 5, Maria attempted to reason with Pietro about letting Penny make her own decisions due to his overprotectiveness of her. She later comforted him after they lost contact with Penny when she lost consciousness and fell out of the atmosphere due to Arthur Watts trying to overwrite her A.I.

Old Silver isn't considered as popular as some other het ships within the RWBY fandom. However, it has a decent sized fanbase, since the two seem to be close old friends. They may also remind some people of an old married couple. On AO3, the ship currently has less than 10 works written. While on the gen tag, it currently has only one work, it has 4 on the Maria Calavera/Pietro Polendina tag.
