One Punch Man is the manga adaptation of the webcomic of the same name, written by the original author ONE and illustrated by Yusuke Murata.
The anime adaptation's first season, handled by Madhouse, first aired on October 5, 2015 and concluded on December 20, 2015. The second season, handled by J.C.Staff, aired on April 9, 2019 and concluded on July 2, 2019. The third season was announced on August 18, 2022 and J.C.Staff will continue to handle it as well. However, the release date is yet to be disclosed.
Plot[]
The story revolves around Saitama, an unassuming man who becomes the world's most powerful hero after an intense, self-imposed training regimen. However, his unmatched strength renders all his battles anticlimactic; he defeats any opponent with a single punch.
One Punch Man's world is plagued by monsters and villains of varying strengths. Despite Saitama's overwhelming power, he struggles with mundane issues, such as lack of recognition and finding excitement in his heroic endeavors. Alongside him is Genos, a young cyborg who admires Saitama and becomes his loyal disciple.
Together, this master-disciple duo joins the Hero Association, a bureaucratic organization ranking heroes based on power and popularity, and embark on a journey to climb its ranks. However, the path proves far from simple, as they face challenges from rival heroes, formidable antagonists, and menacing villains along the way.
The story also occasionally follows other heroes and antagonists, portraying their struggles in a perilous world as they strive to grow stronger. Along the way, mysterious secrets gradually come to light, all while a looming prophecy warns of possible destruction in near future, driving them to prepare to protect the world from an impending catastrophe.
