OuiHaw is the femslash ship between Widowmaker and Ashe from the Overwatch fandom.
Canon[]
Elizabeth Caledonia Ashe was raised by wealthy business consultants who traveled the world, but paid her little attention. leaving her in the care of B.O.B.. She met Jesse McCree, and the two committed a string of crimes together, inspiring Ashe to leave her family and set out on the path of an Outlaw. Along with McCree, she was one of the founding members of the Deadlock gang. The gang grew to prominence, putting them at odds with other gangs, and after several years of violence Ashe called all the heads to a meeting, where she was able to bring organization and an end to their fights. She moved her focus to her heists afterwards, and became top of the authorities most wanted list, and becoming an Outlaw Legend.
Amélie Guillard was a successful ballerina, and married a man named Gerard Lacroix, an agent for Overwatch. Talon, a terrorists organization, captured Amelie and tortured her util she became a sleeper agent. Overwatch rescued her, but two weeks after her return, she killed her husband and returned to Talon. They reconditioned her, turning her into an emotionless killer and lowered her heart rate, her skin becoming blue as a result. She took on the name Widowmaker, and became Talon’s most elite assassin.
GAME-PLAY
Both Ashe and Widowmaker are both Damage/DPS heroes, as well as both being snipers. Both are also medium difficulty heroes.
Fanon[]
Fans began to ship the two after the announcement of Ashe as hero 29 at BlizzCon 2018. Most fans took to the duel sniper couple as well as them both being "villains" in the Overwatch lore.
Ashe's design led to backlash from some of Overwatch's fans. Many thought that Blizzard kept repeating the same face design for its female characters. Most cited that Ashe and Widowmaker essentially had the same face, and started to make jokes about her design essentially being a new skin for her.
On AO3, OuiHaw is the second most written ship for Ashe. There, the ship currently has over 174 written works. While FanFiction.Net only has a little over 5 works written for the ship.
