Nagito“Pay close attention to me until the very end of this field trip. Then you'll understand luck.”
Kokichi“Wooow, you're absolutely correct! You know me so well, Nagito!”
— The first line is from Nagito's "My Future..." event in Danganronpa S, in which Kokichi is shown to be very interested in Nagito's luck, and he told him to wait around and see. The second line is taken from their Ultimate Talent Development Plan interaction, where Kokichi acknowledges how Nagito seems to be able to read through him.

Oumaeda is the slash ship between Kokichi Oma and Nagito Komaeda from the Danganronpa fandom.

Canon[]

Nagito and Kokichi debuted in different Danganronpa games. However, they share one Friendship Event in the bonus mode of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony - Ultimate Talent Development Plan, as well as having several interactions in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.

In the Ultimate Talent Development Plan event, Nagito opens by saying he gives up which prompts Kokichi to pretend that they were playing a game: Kokichi won eventually but Nagito wasn't half-bad himself, either. After some playful banter, they land on the real topic of the day, as Nagito tells Kokichi that even with his talent, he has no luck in finding out any piece of information about the Ultimate Supreme Leader's secret organization. As Nagito's luck usually can be trusted to find anything, he claims it's almost as if this organization doesn't exist, but he adds that he doesn't doubt Kokichi's talent. Kokichi responds by claiming that he was planning on giving him answers, but would take all of Nagito's assets in exchange. Nagito appears surprised, wondering if he should've just asked questions if money is all he needs to pay.

Kokichi coyly raises a finger to his lips and says there are "other forms of payment" as well, asking again if Nagito still wants to know his secrets. Nagito declines the second offer, knowing that Kokichi would likely lie about his organization or raise the payment further after making an offer. Kokichi confirms Nagito's suspicions and marvels over how well he knows him.

In Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, Nagito and Kokichi share a nighttime conversation, with Monomi occasionally chiming in. Nagito expresses excitement about seeing everyone’s hope, and Kokichi teases him about his positivity. When Nagito humbly notes that no one has ever called him positive before, Kokichi points out how no one comes close to Nagito's attachment to hope and questions if Nagito truly understands how others view him.

Nagito asks why Kokichi, with his splendid talent, would bother spending time with him, to which Kokichi admits he’s intrigued by Nagito’s Ultimate Luck. Nagito replies that it was an honor to have Kokichi show interest in him; the two banter some more and Kokichi gets impatient, so Nagito, in his mysterious way, tells Kokichi to watch him closely until the trip’s end, promising he’ll understand luck then. Kokichi, excited, says he won’t be able to sleep now, and Nagito reassures him that he should just wait and see.

Later, the two are seen going to Angie Yonaga's art exhibition together. Other people who appear to this exhibition in pairs include Hiyoko and Mahiru, as well as Komaru and Toko, who are both canonically good friends. Either Kokichi is following Nagito's instruction of paying "close attention to him till the end of this field trip," or they have established a decent friendship nearing the last day of the summer camp like the other pairs.

The two share numerous similarities to each other. Both obsess over one half of their respective games' main theme, although Nagito obsesses over the typically positive side (hope) while Kokichi obsesses over the typically negative side (lies). Both tend to antagonize some of their classmates by occasionally causing mayhem or putting on a villainous act, and both sometimes go into philosophical mumblings, which make them more or less the outcasts among their classmates. As a result, both mostly scheme or act on their own, though Kokichi has sought help from his classmates.

Their roles in the game parallel each other to a large extent. Even certain of their poses are similar, such as these two. Being intelligent and figuring out certain elements of the cases ahead of all their peers, both tend to steer the conversations during the Class Trials, often resorting to casting suspicion on someone to clear their name. Both have also utilized bombs and poison, before orchestrating the fifth case of their respective games, where both ended up being the victims. In doing so, they both have designed a case with the victim and/or culprit seemingly impossible to figure out, although there are differences in their methods and motives to do so: Nagito operated within the game's rules to kill the other Remnants, whereas Kokichi aimed to break the game by creating a scenario where continuing it would be impossible.

Fanon[]

The ship sailed as a result of Nagito and Kokichi being narrative foils who are very similar at first glance. However, upon further inspection, they actually seem to be contrasting each other both ideologically and personality-wise. Nagito appears gentle and caring, while Kokichi often plays up the act of a petulant child. Nagito is an idealist who sees people only through the lens of hope, while Kokichi's way of thinking is a lot more pragmatic and in-the-moment. The ship is further fueled by their interaction in Ultimate Talent Development Plan, and in the lesser-known but equally playful Danganronpa S events.

The most popular fanfictions for these two often portray them as a very compatible yet tension-filled duo, and they'd be shown to be funny, fluffy, and cute together. They bond with each other as a result of being similar in many areas. Some fan content also touches on darker themes, as both characters have exhibited self-destructive tendencies during the game and fans speculate both to be suffering from personality disorders or other kinds of physical and/or mental illnesses. Some fanfics also references their interaction from the friendship events, portraying either as intrigued in the truth behind the other's talent. Others will focus on the differences between them, such as Nagito being fine with the killings while Kokichi is seemingly fine with them but secretly despises them.

However, as a result of being a ship based on two characters who are each a half of the fandom's most popular pairings, Oumaeda is considered a rare pair. While still incredibly popular for such a minor ship, it falls behind ships such as Komahina for Nagito and Saiouma for Kokichi.
