PapaWillow is the het ship between Papa Smurf and Smurfwillow from the The Smurfs fandom.
Canon[]
In Smurfs: The Lost Village, Smurfwillow is introduced the leader of the female Smurfs from the titular location. She and Papa Smurf first meet when Papa Smurf arrives in Smurfy Grove looking for a group of four Smurfs from his own village. Initially mistaking him for an enemy, Smurfwillow knocks him off the rabbit he's riding and demands his surrender. Confused by her accusation, Papa Smurf is then baffled to see the female population of Smurfy Grove.
When Smurfette appears to clear up the misunderstanding, identifying Papa Smurf, it becomes Smurfwillow's turn to be confused. She refers to him as "the Papa thing" and then lets him up after Smurfette introduces him to the village. Smurfwillow then looks on, still apparently bewildered, as Papa Smurf greets Smurfette and his other charges. When Papa Smurf makes the comment that "[He] wasn't born yesterday", Smurfwillow drily agrees with this assessment. Then, when Papa Smurf insists on taking Smurfette and the others home immediately, Smurfwillow objects mildly, addressing him as "Papa Thing."
Objecting to the nickname, Papa questions who Smurfwillow is; when she identifies herself as "leader of the Smurfs", he counters that he is the leader of the Smurfs. Smurfwillow acts somewhat condescending, further irking Papa Smurf who also asks that she stop addressing him as "Papa Thing." However, suddenly recalling how she easily subdued him, Papa questions whether she learned to fight. When she claims to be self-taught, Papa is impressed, and the two begin drawing closer together as they continue talking and maintaining eye contact.
The pair are interrupted by Smurfette, who seems a bit perturbed by their interaction. Unfortunately, Papa and Willow are then the first Smurfs to be trapped by Gargamel using his magical freeze balls and thrown into a sack. Gargamel later throws them into the same cage back in his lair. Smurfwillow notices their respective charges formulating a plan of escape and suggests that they'll need help from her and Papa Smurf. Papa declares that "It's time to rock the cage" only for Willow to reply, "Don't be weird."
Joining hands, the pair run across their cage to swing it towards the cage containing Papa's boys and several girl Smurfs. These form a chain and swing towards Papa and Willow, who hold out their hands to the younger Smurfs. Unfortunately, most of the escapees are recaptured by Gargamel and thrown into his magic-extracting vat. Both Willow and Papa cry out in protest as Gargamel begins draining the magical essence of their Smurfs and absorbing it into himself.
When Smurfette, whom Gargamel didn't take captive, arrives claiming that she wishes to help Gargamel capture the Smurfs of Papa's Village as well as Willow's, both Papa and Willow are aghast, with Willow questioning Papa as to whether she would really do such a thing and him denying it stoutly. However, both look on in concern as Smurfette puts on a convincing act, only to be astonished and relieved when it turns out Smurfette is using her energy-absorbing abilities to drain Gargamel's stolen magic. Gargamel is defeated and the captured Smurfs, including Papa and Willow freed. But to the grief of them all, including Papa and Willow, Smurfette is returned to her original form of a lump of clay.
Willow looks on in obvious sorrow as Papa desperately searches Gargamel's spell book for a way to restore Smurfette to life. She then leads her Smurfs to Papa's village, where both Smurf populations join in mourning Smurfette. Fortunately, Smurfette is soon restored, and all the Smurfs begin celebrating this event. In the midst of their massive group dance, Papa jumps towards Willow, who lifts him over her head and holds him there. Later, Papa is seen grooming his beard in the mirror and then being pushed around in a wheelbarrow by Willow, to the apparent pleasure-or at least amusement in Willow's case-of them both.

PapaWillow enjoys a fair amount of popularity, being possibly the most significant pairing suggested for Papa Smurf in any Smurfs media. Smurfs, the 1980s television series, previously featured Papa Smurf paired with a wood nymph and even had a few episodes in which he was hinted to be interested in Smurfette. PapaWillow has great appeal as a ship, however, in pairing Papa Smurf with a kindred spirit as well as someone of presumably similar age, rather than significantly younger. However, the pairing is somewhat limited by the relatively recent introduction of Smurfwillow.
There are 8 works featuring the pairing romantically on AO3, 1 of which is rated Mature.
