Season 5[]
Patrick and Iván first meet in the school hallways since Iván, who just arrived from Brazil, was looking for the restrooms and asked for indications to Patrick. Patrick seems struck by him and immediately joins him in going to the restrooms. They have a shower together and chat a little, with Iván saying that he isn’t gay because he saw Patrick giving him glances. They form a friendship where they bond over their will to skip class and their difficult relationships with their dads. Iván sends flirtatious signals to Patrick, but then he repeatedly denies the fact that he is gay and rejects all of Patrick's seductive advances. At the same time, Iván falls for Patrick's twin sister, Ari, which complicates their friendship. One time, Patrick catches the two of the having sex on a boat and, out of jealousy, hooks up with Iván's father to make up for the loss of Iván's affection.
In episode 5 when Patrick sees Iván crying over Ari in the hallways, he offers Iván a shoulder to cry on and the two share a sweet moment on the school yard where they talk about what they look for in a partner, in which Iván tells Patrick he wishes he could find the same connection he has with Patrick in a lover. Right after, they go to Iván's house where they spend the day talking and swimming in the pool. Later in the night, Iván puts on some adult content on his bedroom TV and the two start flirting as they are masturbating to the video. They both lean in for a kiss, but Iván pulls away last minute saying that he is not sure, which causes Patrick to get angry at him. Patrick then goes to the guest room and considers Iván's dad's offer to sleep with him instead, but Iván confronts Patrick in the hallway and finally confesses his feelings for him, initiating their first kiss. The two end up making love that night and this event reaffirms their feelings for one another. At this point, it seems like Iván has decided to move forward with Patrick since they shared such an intimate and sensual moment together.
However, this all crumbles when a charity party has place and Patrick is assigned to Ivan’s father, Cruz, and Iván is assigned to Ari. After spending the night with her, he catches Patrick and his father making out in the pool and shows a heartbroken expression. Iván confronts Patrick about this the next day at school in the locker room and demands Patrick to stay away from him and his life. Once again hurt by Iván, Patrick continues to see Cruz.
In episode 7, an heartbroken and disppointed Iván, after discovering his dad and Patrick's fling, accompanies Isadora to Ibiza where they party, trying not to think about anything. Drunk and high, Iván dials Ari by accident, thinking that it was Patrick, and leaves a voice message where he declares his feelings for him. Ari plays the message for her brother the following day at school, but Patrick denies that it was meant for him, still hurt by Iván forcing him out of his life.
In the final episode, Cruz arranges a meeting with Patrick and Iván without any of the other's knowledge in an attempt to get the two boys together since he understood that they truly love each other. However, Iván storms off in a fury. Cruz goes after him and they reconcile whilst Cruz reminds him how Patrick makes him feel and how special their bond is, which reassures Iván of his feelings and make him go after Patrick. In the final moments of the episode, Patrick is crying desperately seeing his father being taken to prison and Iván, who was looking for him, reaches him and embraces him to give him confort. This moment insinuates that they are together now.
Season 6[]
Patrick and Iván's new relationship is facing problems, as Patrick doubts Iván's love for him and is insecure about the fact that he is love-worthy. At Isadora’s brand-new club, since she is Iván’s best friend, Iván decides to give an encouracing kiss to Isadora, who just faced a traumatic situation, to support her returning to a more carefree lifestyle made of parties and fun. Patrick, seeing them, is disappointed. Cruz, under the effect of drugs, lets Patrick know that he still thinks about him and kisses him. Iván sees the scene and shouts at Patrick, blaming him for the failure of their relationship. Iván is disappointed when a leaked video shows the kiss and angrily confronts Patrick about it. Some days later, after a talk with his dad, who once again reminded Iván how his relationship with Patrick is rare and happens once in a lifetime, Iván goes to Patrick and tells him that all he wants is a simple relationship made of little things. The two get together again. Since Cruz came out after the leaked video with Patrick and has an upcoming football game, he thinks of Iván’s security and asks Patrick to convince him move to Patrick’s house, which he does. At the game, a fight breaks out when homophobic fans and Cruz's supporters clash, causing the game to be cancelled. Later, while leaving his house, Cruz is recognized by homophobic fans who beat him to death. Iván is devastated, and begins to drown his grief in alcohol, substances and parties.
Seeing Iván in so much pain, Patrick lets his guard down, and decides to become more vulnerable to him, but ultimately gets his heart broken as Iván goes off the rails following his father's death, and has sex with other people while under the effect of drugs. Patrick tries his best to move on, but finds it hard as he always ends up thinking about Iván. After an intense discussion between them, Patrick leaves angrily and hurt, and, when Iván tries to get him back, he is run over by a car and taken to the hospital. Patrick stays with him all the time and is determined to get back with him, but then, his sister Ari convinces him that it’s better for him to disappear from Iván’s life and move on. She also notices him that all the family is moving somewhere else as Madrid has brought nothing but bad news for the family. He has to face the fact that he won't be with Iván anymore and leaves a heartfelt voicemail in his message inbox. He is last seen in the car, driving out of Spain after the house was put up for sale. Iván, still in the hospital, says Patrick’s name after the latter got away, insinuating that he also wanted to get back with him and never meant to be with anyone else.
Season 7[]
In season 7 the pair is separated.
Iván returns home from the hospital two weeks after waking up from his coma, and, due to the loss of his father and Patrick leaving the country, he begins to feel lonely and starts a relationship with Joel, a pizza delivery guy. However, it’s made clear the fact that Iván still loves Patrick, since he listened to his voicemail plenty of times while crying and, even after he kissed Joel, said “I love you too, Patrick” before definitely canceling the message. Meanwhile, after Patrick left Spain, the police goes under an investigation of Iván's car hit since the culprit ran over him with Patrick’s car, without the latter knowing. Patrick became the primary suspect after they found his car burned by Ari in order to protect their other sister Mencía, unaware she was framed by Sara, the real culprit. Iván however doesn't believe Patrick hit him and defends him when others say the countrary.

Fanon[]
Patriván is one of the most popular and dear ships within the Élite fandom. Even if some people define them as «toxic» given their quite messy storyline, many fans enjoy the chemistry of the two and their happy, even if rare, moments, where it’s clear they do really love each other and every reason that causes them to separate is external and has nothing to do with their feelings that are crearly strong (maybe even too much).
"Élite" is strongly known for never giving the couples of the series happy endings, and, since this time fans wished for them to eventually be happy and together, many shared their frustration at how their story went on after Season 5.
Patriván shippers are very disappointed in how Iván got in a relationship with Joel and pursued it as if Patrick never existed, and also in the attempt to replace Patrick with Joel, since shippers think he is not a good fit for Iván at all and that, compared to Patrick, he’s a way more boring and plain character who also never loved him the way Patrick does.
To this day, after almost 3 years, fans still hope in a return of them since the last time they appeared together in the series (Season 6).

- Both when they first arrived at school were the "foreigners" who needed directions (Patrick coming from London; Iván coming from Brazil)
