Peachy 'Shrooms is the friendship between Princess Peach and Toad from the Super Mario fandom.

Canon

Peach and Toad had appeared together since their very debut in Super Mario Bros, however, Toad wasn't known as "Toad" at that point. Rather, he was addressed as "Mushroom Retainer" and would prioritize the princess' life over his own, hence why he tells Mario to find another castle to save her.

In Super Mario Bros 2, Toad joins Peach and the two brothers on a picnic, only for Mario to find the door he saw in a dream last night. The four of them fell into another world when the door was opened, but it turns out that that part was also Mario's dream.

In Super Mario 64, according to the instruction booklet, Toad had disappeared alongside the princess, leaving her castle eerily empty. However, in the Nintendo DS remaster, he's the only one left and assists Yoshi and the other heroes in saving the princess.

Toad would become playable alongside Peach again in Super Mario 3D World, where he joins the princess and the brothers on a nightly walk, only to point out a translucent pipe partially sticking out of the ground. After Mario and Luigi fix it, a Sprixie princess comes out and urges them for help only to be captured by Bowser, when Peach tries to save her, she falls into the pipe as well and Toad immediately goes after her.

In the Mario Party series, Toad was initially the one to lead the party while Peach was always one of the playable characters. Starting with Mario Party 5, Toad would join Peach and the others on the board and they would receive the team name of "Royal Family", indicating that Toad is considered part of Peach's family. Mario Party 8 would change that to "Loyal Friends", since Toad had already proven his loyalty. It would once again be changed to "Peachy 'Shrooms" in Mario Party DS.

In Super Princess Peach, it is Peach's turn to save Toad and the Mario Brothers (and another Toad) for once, who had been kidnapped by Bowser instead of Peach, since he wasn't after her this time. When Peach frees the captives, they join her when walking back to her castle while watching the stars.

In the RPGs, it is often Toad's role to run to the Mario Brothers to tell them that Peach had been kidnapped (again). In Paper Mario: Color Splash, Toad accompanies Peach when visiting Mario to show him that one of the Toads had been completely drained of color. He then accompanies Mario and Peach to Prism Island to find a cure, reassuring a worried Peach that he found the right place. However, when Toad goes off on his own to look for someone to help them, he also gets drained and Mario has to save him. When Peach is kidnapped later on, Mario can give Toad updates via recorded messages from her.

Cartoons

Already in the first show's pilot episode, it adds a bit of backstory for Toad and Princess Toadstool as it is explained that he was the primary force standing between Peach and Bowser until the Mario Brothers arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom. It is notable that Toad and Toadstool join the brothers far more frequently on their adventures.

Fanon

Though they had never explicitly been portrayed that way, many depict Peach as something of a maternal figure towards Toad. Even if that wasn't the case, Toad still looks and acts much younger than Peach, making the idea of shipping them romantically unappealing for most fans.

When Peachette was announced as an alternate form of Toadette for the Nintendo Switch remaster of New Super Mario Bros U, it spawned a lot of theories that Peach was actually an evolved variant of the Toad species all along.
