PerfectDolls is the femslash ship between Ocean O'Connell Rosenberg and Jane Doe/Penny Lamb from the Ride the Cyclone fandom.
Canon[]
The girls appear to be opposites, with Ocean being the most well-known and successful girl in town, and Jane Doe being the forgotten girl whose head was never found. At first, everyone in the choir, including Ocean is scared of Jane. Ocean starts off calling her "a thing" or "a freaky monster". After Ocean's musical number "What the World Needs", she finds out she needs to rekindle her relationship with her classmates to live. She approaches Jane asking Karnak if Jane deserves to be brought back to life. She ends her speech by saying "But I love her". while Ocean says this, Jane gets close to her and appears to be smelling her. This puts off Ocean and she starts to run away whilst Jane tries to embrace her.
After Jane's Musical number "The Ballad of Jane Doe", Ocean throws a birthday party for her. When Ocean tries to sing for her, she realizes the song "Happy Birthday" requires a name (and Jane's real name is unknown). She writes a new birthday song just for Jane, with Ricky Potts, and sings it for her. Later, during Constance's musical number "Sugar Cloud", Jane and Ocean dance together.
Towards the end, it is decided by Karnak that Ocean can have the final vote of who lives or dies. Before this, Ocean expressed a great desire to continue life, and expressed how she was more deserving than the others. This time she seems hesitant to bring herself back to life. She is left with barely any light on an empty stage with Jane. She looks at Jane and expresses her sympathy toward her, and then gives Jane the gift of life, sacrificing her own life for Jane.
Quotes[]

- — Ocean
- “That song is so overplayed... we'll come up with something better.”
- — Ocean, before singing 'The New Birthday Song'
- “Strange... In our predicament, she's somehow the saddest.”
- — Ocean
- “Who do I vote for? The girl who can't remember any of it? Her. We had a life. She didn't. That's my vote.”
- — Ocean
Fanon[]
A popular variant of PerfectDolls pairs Ocean with Penny Lamb, the girl Jane is revived as at the end of the musical (often speculated to be the same character as Penny Lamb from Legoland, due to their shared name), imagining how she and Ocean may have interacted prior to the Cyclone accident, or in an Alternate Universe in which they both survive. Much fan content is shown depicting Ocean and Penny, as opposed to Jane, though both ships are referred to as PerfectDolls, and are essentially interchangeable.
In 2022, PerfectDolls shippers received a large amount of backlash as a result of one fan theorising that Penny and Ocean were cousins (due to Ocean and Legoland Penny having similar backgrounds/families), and a few previous actors for the show saying that they liked the headcanon. This led to PerfectDolls shippers being labelled 'proshippers', despite the fact that the theory was never officially confirmed. As of 2024, this discourse has since settled down, and fans have referred to the 'PerfectDolls vs Cousins Theory War of 2022' as being 'insane' and 'stupid'.[1]
There are over 200 works on AO3 for PerfectDolls, making this the 5th largest ship in the fandom. It is both Ocean and Jane's 2nd most popular ship. They also have over 60 works for the platonic version of this ship.
This ship is quite popular, but is often overshadowed by Spacedolls and Blackrose.
The ship is called PerfectDolls because Jane is seen holding a headless doll for most of the show, and Ocean is fixated on being perfect.

Trivia[]
- In Stage Craft Studio's production of Ride the Cyclone, the actors playing Jane and Ocean were dating, leading to moments in the show that can be interpreted as the implication of something romantic between Jane and Ocean (e.g. them dancing during Noel's Lament). This has led to many fans colloquially referring to Stage Craft Studio's production as 'the PerfectDolls production'. It is also currently the only known production to imply PerfectDolls, as opposed to Spacedolls.
