Phineas and Ferb is an animated TV series created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.

Plot

It's summer, and the stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb, feeling that their summer vacation shouldn't be boring or plain, decide to create something big, fun and exciting every day, making it their mission to create "the best day ever". These big ideas tend to be rather bombastic and actually competently made, catching the attention of their big sister Candace. She believes that Phineas and Ferb are consistently violating the house rules by creating these large, dangerous-looking contraptions, and often tries to "bust" Phineas and Ferb (getting them in trouble) by showing her mom Linda what her brothers are doing. Meanwhile, Phineas and Ferb's normally idle pet platypus, Perry, is in fact a secret agent who has to deal with the evil schemes of his nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, on a daily basis as well. Doofenshmirtz typically invents a crazy Inator every day in the hopes of taking over the Tri-State Area, yet Perry always successfully foils these plans and destroys these Inators, which in turn coincidentally causes Phineas and Ferb's own inventions to disappear right before Candace can show it to Linda.

Phineas and Ferb is an episodic series which follows a strict formula indicated by easily memorable catchphrases; however, as the series continues, episodes will occasionally turn the formula on its head with various unexpected twists for variety. Despite the formulaic plot, the show is often praised for its clever writing and humor. Often, episodes will also include a unique song, making this a musical series.
