Phinford is the slash ship between Phineas Flynn and Buford Van Stomm in the Phineas and Ferb fandom.

Canon

Overview

Buford used to bully Phineas all the time, just like any other bully would to a nerd. Buford would do things to Phineas like stealing his bike, beating him up, and calling him names. The name "Dinnerbell" was Buford's go-to insult for Phineas, referring to the shape of his head. However, in "Raging Bully", after a public thumb-wrestling match that ended in Phineas's public humiliation, Buford called it "Even Steven" with Phineas and stopped bullying him. From then on, Buford would slowly become more and more friendly to Phineas, until he eventually just became a permanent member of The Gang for the remainder of the series. Buford assisted Phineas with building his inventions and would partake in riding on them. Buford's days of bullying Phineas were long gone and he would instead direct his brutish behavior and abusive attitudes toward Baljeet.

Season 1

Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror

Buford came to Phineas's backyard beach party, uninvited and Phineas was not happy to see him. Buford entered himself into the surfing competition and competed against Phineas. During the contest, Buford tried to tackle Phineas on his surfboard, only for him to tackle a holographic projection of him and lose.

Are You My Mummy?

Buford tried to poke Phineas in the eye, until Phineas's mummy showed up and scared him away.

Raging Bully

Buford came up to the table where Phineas, Ferb, and Baljeet were sitting and sat on Baljeet, flattening him under his butt. Phineas told Buford that the seat was taken and Buford told him that the table was taken and demanded he sit somewhere else. Phineas' ice cream fell off of its cone and landed on Buford's pants, embarrassing him in front of everybody at the mall. Buford grabbed Phineas by the shirt and prepared to punch him in the face. However, Evander Holyfield stopped them and told them that the only way to deal with this fight properly would be with a thumb wrestling match. Phineas and Buford trained for the match and on the day of the "Brawl at the Mall", they got to fighting. Buford completely dominated Phineas in battle and nearly crushed him under his thumb, only for an ice cream from Doofenshmirtz, up above, to fall and land on Phineas's pants, embarrassing him the same way Buford was embarrassed. Buford laughed his butt off at Phineas, and Phineas just admits defeat. Phineas and Buford admitted that this fight was wrong, but on the bright side, now they were "Even Steven". They decided to put this whole ugly mess behind them and become friends.

Jerk De Soleil

Buford was one of the guys who came to Phineas's circus and Phineas was happy to see him, even inviting him to be in one of the performances as "The Great Baggo", who got flung into a pool of mud. Given how friendly they were, it can be implied that their conflict resolution in "Raging Bully" was permanent and signified the beginning of their friendship.

Voyage to the Bottom of Buford

Buford was crying over his pet fish, Biff, going missing, while he was swimming with him in the ocean. Phineas was hesitant to help him because of how mean Buford was to him in the past, but he couldn't stand the obnoxious sounds of Buford crying, so he had no choice but to help him. Phineas built a submarine so that he could go down under the ocean and find Biff. The whole time, Buford insisted that he wasn't crying, he was just "sweating through his eyes" and Phineas politely went along with the delusion.

Season 2

Summer Belongs to You!

Phineas built a rocket machine that he'd use to travel around the world in one day, but Buford doubted he'd be able to do it. Buford decided to come along for the ride just so that he could watch Phineas fail and laugh at his tears when he didn't make it around the world in time. Near the end of the day, Phineas and the gang were so close to the finish line, but the whole machine had broken down and they were stuck behind a bunch of traffic. Buford wasn't going to let them fail, even though he was against them at the start, so he returned the bicycles that he had stolen from Phineas and the other neighborhood kids when they were toddlers, so that they could ride them back home just in time to make it. This was a nice 180 for Buford to make, proving that he was now a supporter of Phineas, even though he used to be a bitter rival.

Fanon

Phinford is a very uncommon rarepair in the fandom for unknown reasons. It only has four known supporters on Tumblr and 0 stories on AO3. One of the main things that people enjoy about the ship is the "Enemies to Lovers" storyline. However, this is largely trumped by rival ship, Bujeet, due to the latter's superior portrayal of a bully and a nerd.
