Pike says he sounds like a wild card and Sam says that he does. Pike asks if they should be worried that Jim will start a war, but Sam says that even though he's a pain in the ass, Jim is one of the finest captain's starfleet has. Fanon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

Pike x Sam, is a very rarepair in the Star Trek fandom overall, but began in the Strange New Worlds fandom. Sam himself almost no ships due to him being a character that previously only appeared in one episode of TOS, which is the episode where he dies. While some joked that there was potential for the two to be a couple in the first episode, the ship started gaining some genuine attention in episode two. Specifically with Pike's comment on Sam's moustache sounding like flirting. Although it hasn't gained many fans due to Sam's limited amount of screen time throughout the season. Currently there is one work on AO3.
