Predatorshipping is the het ship between Yuri and Serena from the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom.

Canon

Serena and Yuri are fragments of two residents of the Original Dimension - Ray Akaba and Z-ARC, respectively - reborn in the Fusion Dimension created from their battle. The two first met briefly when Serena and her "father" Leo Akaba met him sitting on a bench. Afterwards, however, the two rarely met if at all as Yuri joined Academia's mission and Serena was locked away since she was a critical component. Even when Serena manages to escape in her effort to impress Leo, Yuri isn't initially sent to bring her back. Instead, they end up on opposite sides of the conflict between Academia and forces gathered by Leo's son Reiji to defend the dimensions. During Academia's attack on the Standard Dimension, Yuri gets briefly confused when he sees someone that looks like Serena surrounded by Obelisk Force. This is cleared up when he's told that it's Yuzu Hiiragi - her Standard counterpart - having swapped clothes to try and distract Obelisk Force from each other.

The two would finally reunite in the Synchro Dimension. Within an abandoned subway station, Yuri finds Serena being defended by her allies - including former Academia spy Sora Shiunin. Seeing Serena is standing against Academia, he declares her a traitor and has some Obelisk Force hold her defenders at bay. Before moving in to arrest her, Yuri snidely asks Serena to duel him but immediately dismisses it given how visibly weak she is from her last duel and instead asks Sora to duel in her stead. This gets interrupted when Yugo - Yuri's Synchro counterpart and Serena's last opponent - arrives and challenges him to a duel as revenge for Yuri kidnapping Rin (Serena's Synchro counterpart). Yuri explains he was just following orders then and reveals that he's capturing Serena for the same reason - and is visibly surprised to learn she lost to Yugo. Now curious about someone who beat Serena, Yuri agrees to Yugo's challenge and has the Obelisk Force hold everyone else - including Serena - until he's taken care of.

Serena is forced to watch Yuri duel Yugo, particularly when the two - along with their nearby Standard counterpart Yuya Sakaki (whose dueling Serena's ex-bodyguard Barrett) - enter their Awakened states. Their duel is interrupted when Yuzu appears and the power of her bracelet causes Yugo and Yuri to be transported away. After Barrett's and Yuya's duel, Serena gets taken by Barret back to the Fusion Dimension. This encounter would mark the last time Yuri and Serena saw each other as themselves as they would eventually be merged with their respective components back into their original selves and eventually reborn within their Standard counterparts.

Fanon

Predatorshipping is a fairly popular ship in the ARC-V portion of the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom. While fairly popular, it's considered the least popular of the ships between the corresponding dimensional counterparts. The fact Yuri and Serena are ambivalent at each other at best and enemies at worst throughout the series is one of the big reasons for the lack of popularity. Another being that they aren't shown significantly interacting with each other, not even through flashbacks. Even so, the images of the two of them that appears in the 5th ED gave fans an indication that, had things been different, they might've been like the other pairs. There's fanworks showing these AUs where Yuri and Serena did get to interact in the past, as well as finding ways to reconcile from inside their respective Standard counterparts.

On AO3, this ship has tagged entries in the 140's range, making it the 5th most written ship for Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V after their respective counterpart ships and their original selves. This also makes it the most written ship for both Yuri and Serena.

Trivia

• The name of this ship comes from two places:
  • Their main archetypes both have a predatorial theme. Yuri's Predaplants - apart from also being called Predator Plants in the OCG - includes some based around various carnivorous plants. At the same time, Serena's Lunalight monsters includes members based on carnivorous animals.
  • Both are introduced while looking for someone. Serena was hunting for Shun Kurosaki. Meanwhile, Yuri was sent out to find Serena's dimension counterparts.
• Yuri and Serena are the only dimensional pair who never dueled each other onscreen.
