— Episode 2 "Out of Time"

Pricefield is the femslash ship between Chloe Price and Max Caulfield from the Life is Strange fandom.

Canon[]

It is not known exactly how Max and Chloe met, but at some point they became best friends and started spending a lot of time together. Each was a frequent guest at the other's home.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm[]

Bonus Episode: Farewell[]

At one point Max's family due to her father's job had to move to Seattle, leaving the town they had always lived in, Arcadia Bay. Three days ago, the girl goes to see Chloe and she thinks she doesn't have it yet and she doesn't know how. Most of the objects Max interacts with will bring to mind moments she had with Chloe.

Max and Chlo listening to 2003

Max and Chloe hear the tape they made when they were eight.

Depending on the player's choices, Max may try to tell Chloe twice, but is interrupted by either way. While the two "tidy up" Chloe's room, they find an old message they had recorded as little girls in which they had hidden a treasure and decide to find it.

The two eventually find the treasure that turns out to be a time capsule filled with their childhood memories. Max can then play a message on the answering machine of the mother of a schoolmate of Chloe's about the fight between her daughter and the young Price. Chloe can reveal that she lit a Bunsen burner next to the other girl after she made fun of her clothes and the fact that she goes to her school on a scholarship.

Max and Chloe promising each other to always be together

Max and Chloe promising each other to always be together.

Max is now able to tell Chloe that she is going to live in Seattle and if she tells her, Chloe reveals that she already knew, having heard their parents talk about it. The two then promise that they will always be united regardless.

Soon after, Chloe's mom, Joyce Price, comes home accompanied by a policeman, and gives Chloe the terrible news that her father has died in a car accident. Max is devastated, although obviously less than Chloe and Joyce.

Missing Max

Chloe clings desperately to the thought of Max.

Max attends the funeral, but leaves soon after and is desperate for being taken away by her parents as she watches Chloe and Joyce through the back window. Chloe returns home and slowly walks upstairs to her room to find a note with "I'm sorry" attached to her cassette player. She plays the tape inside to hear a message from Max. The message varies depending on whether Max has chosen to tell Chloe to move to Seattle or not.

Regardless of the version, Chloe bursts into tears as she listens to the message before hugging the recorder, curling up with it in a fetal position. After some time, Max and Chloe lose contact, or rather the brunette begins to ignore Chloe's messages. Despite her Chloe's anger at her, she thinks that if Max reappears to ask her to play pirates as they did when she was little, she would accept without thinking twice.

Episode One: Awake[]

Chloe thinks about Max and briefly talks about it to Rachel Amber. When exploring Chloe's room, many memories of Chloe and Max's friendship can be found.

Episode Two: Brave New World[]

It turns out that Chloe writes letters to Max that she then doesn't send and the content of those letters shows that Max still misses a lot. It is later rumored that she misses Max most of all, when she finds out that they have closed a restaurant they used to go to.

Episode Three: Hell is Empty[]

Chloe continues to write unsent letters to Max and the girl plays a role in her nightmares. If the player wishes, Chloe can tell Sera, Rachel's biological mother, about how Max left her and how much she meant to Chloe in an attempt to get her to meet her daughter.

Life is Strange[]

Five years after having moved, Max won a scholarship to Blackwell Academy and returned to live in Arcadia Bay. However, she initially did not contact Chloe, even though she wanted to.

Episode One: Chrysalis[]

One day in the bathroom, Max sees her classmate, Nathan Prescott, kill a blue-haired girl, who she doesn't currently recognize is Chloe. The shock allows Max to unlock her chronokinetic powers and thus rewinds the time by a few minutes. After having discovered that she can turn back in time, Max decides to save the girl and, after the lesson, she runs into the bathroom to prevent the murder. By setting off the fire alarm, the brunette distracts Nathan and allows Chloe to escape. In her room on campus, Max has brought at least one old photo of herself and Chloe and thinks the longer she waits to call her, the worse it will be. Shortly after, while talking to her friend Warren, Max is attacked by Nathan who discovered she was in the bathroom.

Max and Chloe meet again after five years.

Max and Chloe meet again after five years.

At that precise moment, Max is almost run over by Chloe who recognizes her immediately; being called by her name, Max recognizes her too and runs off, jumping into her pickup.

Along the way, Chloe throws a few digs at her friend, and regardless of the player's choices, Chloe will blame Max for not even contacting her to tell her she was back in Arcadia Bay, but Max will angrily defend herself. Eventually, however, she invites her to her house to try and fix her camera, with her stepfather's tools.

Chloe talks to Max about Rachel

Chloe talks to Max about Rachel.

Walking around Chloe's room, Max finds many memories of their friendship and, while looking for a CD for her, she finds a photo of Chloe with Rachel Amber, a girl who has been missing for about a month. Chloe gets a little angry but eventually admits that after Max moved and her father died, Rachel had become her lifeline. Chloe's anger towards Max still emerges in their dialogue, yet she doesn't hesitate to tell her about her and Rachel's plan to go to Los Angeles. Max doesn't appear to be jealous, but it could be due to remorse.

Wandering around the house in search of tools, Max continues to rethink about her friendship with young Price. Looking at Max's photos, Chloe sees one that makes her realize she was the one who triggered the alarm. If Max confirms it, she will be thanked.

Gift

Chloe gives Max her father's camera.

Chloe might get a little angry if Max reveals that she told Principal Wells what happened. Then Chloe gives her father's camera to Max as a belated birthday present. Max is initially reluctant to take it, but Chloe insists it would be used wonderfully in Max's hands and takes the photo taken by the brunette as a symbol of their renewed friendship.

Chloe plays loud music and the girls start dancing, but soon they are interrupted by David, Chloe's stepfather who can't stand music. Chloe tells Max to hide somewhere, and puts the joint she was making on the table. David walks in and asks Chloe if she took one of his missing guns, but Chloe denies it. David notices the joint and immediately asks for an explanation. At this point the player can decide whether to let Chloe be scolded or to have Max take the blame. Chloe's reaction will vary based on the player's choice.

Chloe and Max confide in each other

Chloe and Max confide in each other.

Regardless, the two go to the lighthouse where they went as children and start gossiping about David. Max can reveal to her friend that she has discovered that David is keeping the house under surveillance by cameras. Chloe then confides to Max that she was drugged and photographed by Nathan, and that she wanted to blackmail him. After Max collapses after having a vision of the city swept away by a cyclone, she tells Chloe about this vision and Chloe initially doesn't believe her, but when it starts snowing, she admits that something strange is going on.

Episode Two: Out of Time[]

The next morning, Max gets a text from Chloe asking her to meet at Two Whales Diner. Max comments that she likes to have Chloe back in her life, despite all the crazy things that have happened.

Max and Chloe discuss Max's power.

Max and Chloe discuss Max's power.

Chloe arrives at the diner after a while and immediately wants proof of Max's new powers. Max complies by telling her the contents of her pockets. One of the first comments Chloe makes about Max's power is, "Maybe you made a move on me and I would never know," which could suggest that Chloe subconsciously wants this to happen. Chloe then asks Max to go with her to a secret location to further test her powers.

This is a great sign of trust in Chloe, and, even though Max was on the verge of telling her friend Warren everything too, in the end she will never tell anybody about her powers, except Chloe. Before they leave, Max gets a call from her friend and schoolmate Kate. If she chooses to answer, Chloe will get a scolding from Joyce and will be mad at Max for preferring one of her friend that she sees every day. If Max doesn't answer, Chloe will be happy to escape the restaurant before her mother can start a scolding, and will give Max a high five.

Chloe is delighted with Max's return

Chloe is delighted with Max's return.

The two girls go to the city dump, Chloe's secret refuge. She expresses her joy at Max's return in her life and Max's superpower. After the brunette exercises her power, she passes out from using it too much.

When Max recovers, drug dealer Frank Bowers arrives and demands from Chloe the money she owes him. Midway through the conversation, Chloe notices a bracelet on Frank's wrist belonging to Rachel and she aggressively asks him where he got it. At that point Max threatens the dealer with a gun that Chloe stole from David.

If the player decides to try to shoot, it turns out that the gun is unloaded, but Chloe will be impressed by Max's courage. If the player decides not to try to shoot, Frank grabs the gun and walks away, to Chloe's anger.

Regardless, the two start chatting on the train tracks. They talk about Frank and Rachel, and Max expresses her desire to build another "pirate fortress" where she could be alone with Chloe. As Max gets up to take a photo of the sun, she has another vision and shortly afterwards, she hears Chloe asking for help. Max realizes that Chloe'foot is stuck because of the tracks, and she has to be quick to free her because a train is approaching.

Max saves Chloe's life again.

Chloe hugs Max, after she saves her life again.

Although the way changes according to the player's choices, Max manages to save Chloe just in time and Chloe hugs her, declaring that they are now tied for life.

Chloe later accompanies Max back to Blackwell. Upon arrival, they have a brief conversation about chaos theory and Chloe leaves Max to go home. In the final cutscene, Chloe can be seen texting Max as they both witness the eclipse.

Episode Three: Chaos Theory[]

Max is awakened at midnight by a text from Chloe asking her to meet in front of the campus. If Max decided to shoot Frank in the previous episode, Chloe will jokingly propose to marry her, although Max replies that same-sex marriage is illegal in Oregon for the time being.

Chloe scares Max when she approaches, yelling "booyah", joke that Max doesn't appreciate, especially if she wasn't able to prevent her friend Kate from committing suicide in episode two. Regardless, Chloe immediately apologizes and says she doesn't know how to deal with such situations. Chloe is not one to apologize, another proof that Max is important to her.

They talk about Kate and Rachel, and decide to look for clues so that nothing like this happens to anyone else. The two begin rummaging around the school using the keys Chloe stole from David.

The young Price suggests examining the principal's office first, but soon discovers that the key to that office is missing. She reveals to Max that she learned to pick from Frank some time ago and tries to crack the lock while Max decides to call Warren to ask him for a hint for help. When Warren once again mentions her invitation to go to the drive-in and Max replies whether she can go or not, the camera focuses on Chloe staring at Max, in a way that suggests she's gotten jealous. Eventually Max manages to break into the office by rewinding time and her friend is greatly impressed.

Max and Chloe investigate

Max and Chloe investigate.

As they prepare to leave, Chloe rummages through the drawers of the principal's desk and discovers an envelope full of money that is labeled the school's handicapped fund. Chloe wants to get it to pay back Frank, and the player has to decide whether Max will allow it or not.

If Max decides to pay Frank, allowing her to find more clues about Rachel and get a drug dealer out of her friend's way, Chloe gleefully hugs Max and offers to take her off to Portland with the remaining money.

But if Max doesn't allow her to steal, she's a little upset, but then takes advantage of it to convince Max to take a clandestine swim in the school's pool (which the two will do anyway, even if they robbed the school. Max finds herself again unable to turn down Chloe's offer as she feels that, after the crazy events of the day, they "deserve" to have some fun). Chloe asks Max to turn on the pool lights, then dives in and starts swimming. When Max approaches her, Chloe sprays her with water, inviting her into the pool and she jumps into the water. The two start squirting and Chloe looks happy even though it's obvious she still misses Rachel.

Chloe and Max at the Pool

Chloe and Max talk about their relationship.

The two start chatting and the blue notes how the chronokinesis that Max has developed is changing her personality in a positive way and is certain that her power was unlocked when Max had to save her due to the strong connection between them. Max retorts that Chloe makes her feel more confident about her actions, and Chloe replies that Max is her reason for staying in Arcadia Bay.

Chloe sees Max as the smartest and most talented person she knows and promises to never leave her. When Max then brings up Rachel to her, Chloe does not claim to find her better than Max but declares that she is not her groupie, which implies that she actually prefers Max.

The arrival of the guards forces the two to flee and, since Max cannot return to her room, she goes to sleep at Chloe's house, like she did as a child.

Chloe photobombing

Chloe inserts herself into one of Max's selfies.

In the morning, Max takes a selfie in which Chloe fits in. The two then start talking about the events of last night and Chloe urges Max not to be afraid to enter the Everyday Heroes contest. Since Max's clothes are soiled with chlorine, Chloe offers her some of the clothes Rachel left at her house when she slept there. Max can also take a look at Chloe's cell phone; if Max supported Chloe enough in previous episodes, there is now a photo of her in the background and no longer one of Rachel.

Max then comments that Chloe was nice for trying to understand the meaning of her vision.

Opening the closet, Max initially doesn't want to wear Rachel's clothes because they are a different style than the one she normally wears, but Chloe encourages and challenges her to kiss her, a decision that will have a crucial impact on their relationship.

If the player chooses not to kiss her, Chloe goes back to her bed and notes that it wasn't that easy to let her kiss her, and Max may have already used her rewind power after kissing her. Chloe also jokes that she will write to Warren that Max is saving herself for him and it is later revealed that she did indeed text Warren. Max will write in her diary that she was going to kiss her, but she didn't want to do it as a joke, and that she likes that Chloe is so fearless.

Pricefield kiss

Max accepts Chloe's challenge and kisses her.

If the player chooses to kiss her, Chloe then takes a few steps back in surprise and notes that Max is "hardcore". Max's arms linger in the air, which somehow suggests that if Chloe hadn't jumped back, the kiss would have been longer. Chloe also jokes that she will write to Warren that he has no chance with Max unless he has lesbian fantasies and even here, it is later revealed that she did indeed text Warren. Max will think Chloe's expression was priceless and in her diary she will also mention that the way Chloe looked embarrassed after the kiss was cute.

Either way, Max later states in her diary that she also think Chloe sees Rachel Amber in her future. Chloe compliments Max on how Rachel's clothes fit her and the brunette goes out and helps Joyce prepare breakfast, telling her about Rachel and Chloe.

Joyce may reveal that Chloe has told her over the past five years that she would like to be more like Max. David comes home and an argument breaks out in the living room. Max has to side with either David or Chloe.

In the first case, the girl points out that there is no evidence against Joyce's second husband and Chloe asks Max to rewind time to change the outcome. In the second case, Max notices David's threatening attitude towards the students and his creepy files containing information about Kate and Rachel. This causes Joyce to chase David out of the house, which visibly pleases Chloe, who asks Max not to change her decision.

Max later informs Chloe that she has seen photos of Rachel and Frank and that it looked like they were much more than friends, but Chloe is quite certain there could be no romantic relationship between the two. Max doesn't insist, but convinces her friend to search Frank's camper. Chloe likes the RV and thinks it would be nice to use it for a trip with Max, who likes the idea, but convinces her friend to get busy instead of daydreaming.

Max tries to calm and console Chloe

Max tries to calm and console Chloe.

Eventually Max finds clear evidence of a love affair between the young Amber and the drug dealer and shows them to Chloe, who become upset and complains that all the people in her life have abandoned her in one way or another, including Max. The brunette later tries to calm her blue-haired friend, reminding her that she needs her.

Max celebrates William's rescue

Max celebrates William's rescue.

Feeling shocked by Chloe's outburst, Max will take a look at the last photo that Chloe's father took of them, and after returning to her dorm room, she will activate another aspect of her powers: the ability to go back in time through photos. Max takes advantage of this to save William, preventing him from taking the car and preventing Chloe's life from being ruined by his death. After having succeeded, she starts jumping happily, dragging thirteen-year-old Chloe with her.

Back in the present, Max rushes to Chloe and has a nasty surprise: in the new timeline, she had the accident and became paralyzed.

Episode Four: Dark Room[]

Max and Chloe in the new timeline

Max and Chloe in the new timeline.

Max and Chloe go for a walk along the boardwalk, and this is where Max finds out how Chloe ended up paralyzed from the neck down. Max discovers that, in the new present, she has stayed in touch with Chloe, but only through letters and that they never talked about the incident. Here too, Chloe continues to consider Max as her best friend and is very grateful for her visit.

Later the girls return to Chloe's house. Max feels very guilty for having reduced her friend to that condition, albeit unintentionally, and Chloe notices that the conversation she has had with Max is probably the longest she has had in a year.

Max and Chloe Blade Runner

Max and Chloe watch Blade Runner.

Max continues to apologize for not visiting her friend and, after a while, Chloe feels like they should watch a movie together like in the old days and asks Max to put on the Blade Runner DVD. Max warns Chloe that it is best for her not to fall asleep like she did when they were children. Ironically, it's Max who falls asleep, and the next morning, having a headache, Chloe asks Max to take her morphine injector.

Walking around the house, Max discovers that Chloe's condition is deteriorating and that she will soon die. After giving Chloe her morphine, Chloe wants to see old photos of her and asks Max to bring the album of photos and then young Caulfield turns the pages for her. Chloe claims that she knows exactly what's going on despite her parents not telling her about the doctor's report and begs Max to kill her to end her suffering. Spending time with Max reminded Chloe of the happy times they ran around Arcadia Bay playing pirates, and Chloe wishes to keep this memory as her last.

Chloe begs Max to kill her.

Chloe begs Max to kill her.

It is up to the player to decide to grant this request: if they decide to do so, Max turns the knob of Chloe's morphine drip to the maximum. Chloe thanks her and says she is proud of Max for following her dreams. Chloe says she loves Max and asks her not to forget about her. Max promises to never forget her and adds that she will see Chloe sooner than she thinks. If Max doesn't give Chloe an overdose, Chloe will lash out at her, angry that her best friend didn't help her with this request. She wants Max to leave and never come back.

Max asks Chloe for forgiveness.

Max asks Chloe for forgiveness.

In both cases Max focuses on their photo and goes back to 2008, when she and Chloe were 13. This time, she lets William leave the house and begs the 13-year-old version of Chloe for forgiveness, although she obviously doesn't understand why.

As soon as the previous timeline is restored and Max notices that Chloe is back, she runs to hug her.

Max hugs Chloe

Max hugs Chloe.

If Max decided to kiss Chloe in Episode 3, she jokes, "Whoa! Down, Max! You have one kiss and now you're on me ...". If Max didn't kiss Chloe, Chloe will instead say "Oh yeah, now all of a sudden you want to kiss me? You've had your chance." Either way Max will reply that she is happy to see Chloe and Chloe will thank her for the "morning pack".

If Max hasn't kissed her before, she will state in her diary "I've never been so happy to see Chloe in my life. The moment I saw her blue hair and that pretty pissed face, I regretted not having kissed her when she challenged me twice. Maybe if the double dog had challenged me ... ". If Max kissed her instead, she would write" I've never been so happy to see Chloe in my life. The moment I saw her blue hair and that beautiful pissed face, I wanted to kiss her again."

Later, a conversation is possible between Max and David, coming to get his things if Joyce threw him out, in which she declares that she will not allow anyone to hurt Chloe. If Max has managed to prevent Kate's suicide, she will tell her friend that before continuing their investigation, she must visit Kate at the hospital.

Chloe apologizes to Max

Chloe apologizes to Max.

When they get there, Chloe confides to her old friend that hospitals have always scared her and apologizes for being angry when she answered Kate's call. The punk then notices that Max rescued Kate like she rescued her and waits patiently outside of the room while Max chats with her schoolmate. After this conversation, the aspiring photographer thanks Chloe for coming with her and the two make their way to Blackwell.

On the campus, they run into Mr. Jefferson. Max immediately acts shy with him (he is a famous photographer whom she admires very much), and this is noticed by Chloe who gives her a curious look. Max introduces Chloe as a friend of hers, and, when Jefferson tells Max to come to the party where the winner of the photo contest will be announced, Chloe says she'll be there as "Max's date". She later teases her friend a bit but without malice.

After searching Nathan's room, Max and Chloe go to the beach to meet Frank and get the code for his account book. They have a quick conversation inside Chloe's car about Rachel and their trip to Portland. Chloe says they couldn't have imagined that all of this would have happened to them when they were grewing up.

Depending on the player's choices, Frank can die, get hurt, or do nothing, but Max and Chloe will get the cipher anyway. If Chloe killed Frank, she will cry and Max will have to calm her down. Chloe will say that she will go to the police and promises to take full responsibility for Frank's murder.

Their investigation takes them to an abandoned barn owned by the Prescott family. Before going into the barn, Max proposes to call the police, but Chloe retorts that Nathan's very wealthy family can buy everyone and that they can only trust each other. At the barn, they discover a hidden underground bunker beneath it, which was the dark room Nathan was talking about. There are photographs of Rachel Amber, Kate Marsh and other missing girls from Arcadia Bay.

Chloe begs Max to go find Rachel's tracks.

Chloe and Max find Rachel's dead body

Chloe and Max find Rachel's dead body,

The punk insists on running to the junkyard where the photos are supposed to have been taken and rushes there with Max in tow. The two girls dig into the ground where Chloe recognizes and find Rachel's body. Chloe bursts into tears and throws up and Max tries to comfort her while also crying.

That night, the two go to the party, since they know Nathan will be there too. Max notes that, with all the evidence they found, Nathan would certainly be arrested, but Chloe states that Rachel would like revenge and is sure that with Max's help no one will be able to stop her. She then asks Max if she will help her. Max reassures her that she will be by her side until the end.

Max, then stunned, notices that there are two moons in the sky, but Chloe doesn't care. Max tries to make her understand it's serious, but Chloe is obsessed with avenging Rachel and doesn't listen to her.

Young Prescott is not at the party and the two friends go to inspect the dorms, however a message in which Nathan declares that he will destroy the evidence makes them run to the landfill. Unfortunately, once they arrive, someone shoots Chloe, killing her, and drugs Max. Before she passes out, Max can see that it is Professor Jefferson.

Episode Five: Polarized[]

Max discovers that Professor Jefferson is a psychopath, obsessed with taking pictures of drug addicted girls, because he believes that mental numbing makes the photos more natural, leaving the purity of the subject intact. It turns out that Nathan had mental problems and that, seeing Jefferson as a father figure, he tried to imitate him by drugging and photographing Rachel, but he overdosed the doses, causing her to overdose and kill her. During the photography session, Max threatens Jefferson, saying that he deserves to die for what he did to Chloe and Rachel.

Max, using a selfie, manages to return to the beginning of that hallucinating week and vows that she will never allow anyone to hurt Chloe again. The brunette also tells herself that she doesn't care what happens to her, but that she has to save Chloe.

Chloe helps Max pack.

Chloe helps Max pack.

Max sends an anonymous message to David and arranges for Jefferson to be arrested and in time, to save Chloe, he hands over her photo, winning the contest. In this new version of the week, she and Chloe have re-established their old friendship anyway and it shows that Chloe was with her as she packed her bags to go to San Francisco. From the messages it is clear that Max was close to Chloe after Rachel's death was discovered and obviously saved her again from Nathan. After Max communicated her win to Chloe on Wednesday, the punk was evidently very proud and happy for Max.

Max hears Chloe dying

Max hears Chloe dying.

While calling Chloe from the art gallery, Max discovers that the tornado has indeed hit Arcadia Bay, and Chloe presumably dies from it, while on the phone with her.

Max has no choice but to change the past once again, and so she finds herself back in the darkroom at Jefferson's mercy. Luckily, David intervenes and Max, rewinding time so that she is not defeated by Jefferson, manages to be saved and once free, she gets a photo from Warren to return to the night of the party.

Max hugs Chloe after finally managing to save her.

Max hugs Chloe after finally managing to save her.

Like when she was back from the first alternate timeline, Max, as soon as she sees Chloe alive, rushes to hug her.

Max forces the punk to listen to her and tells her about what a deranged fool Jefferson is, and what happened to them because of him, and she comes to reveal to her the alternate timeline in which she prevented William's death. Chloe is shocked at what her old friend has had to go through and finally lets herself be persuaded to report Jefferson to David, who, with the help of the police, will arrest the insane guy, while the two of them will spend the night at Chloe's house, completely safe.

Since she will soon forget what happened for a while, Max begs Chloe to tell her she traveled using a photo, and she will believe her because she will always believe her. Having convinced her friend, Max moves away from her, taking her hand.

Max wakes up on the beach with Chloe and the two are safe from the tornado. Max hugs Chloe and is relieved that she has finally managed to make her survive. Chloe offers to get out of Max's life after everything she put her through, but Max disagrees. Then Chloe once again mentions how well Max has handled all difficult situations and that she is the best friend a human can have.

Shortly after, Max loses consciousness and experiences a disturbing nightmare in which Chloe appears multiple times and is particularly prominent towards the end. She is portrayed in most of the scenes in a harsh way, telling Max that she is not worthy of her attentions, or that she should never have returned to Arcadia Bay. Her abandonment issues are heightened, to play on Max's guilty conscience. She is also shown romantically with different people to make Max jealous.

Max relives the moments shared with Chloe

Max relives the moments shared with Chloe.

Eventually Max finds herself at the diner, where she finds a doppelganger of her own who calls her selfish, for messing up Chloe's time. If Max says Chloe is her best friend, her impersonator will scornfully comment that she ignored her for five years, just when she needed her the most. Ultimately she will insinuate that Chloe doesn't really love her, but just then the young Price enters the diner, saying thats he won't allow the bond between her and Max to be broken. Max later remembers all the events of the week she shared with Chloe.

Meanwhile Chloe takes Max up to the cliff with her. When they reach the lighthouse, and the brunette wakes up, Max fears that she was the cause of the destruction of the city, while Chloe, admitting her selfishness after her friend had to prevent her and raise her from the dead over and over, now is ready to accept her fate and gives Max the photograph of the blue butterfly she took in Blackwell's bathroom, giving her the chance to go back to the moment Nathan killed her saying that she will accept every choice of her friend (choice that depends by the player).

Last first kiss

The last goodbye between Chloe and Max.

If Max chooses to sacrifice Chloe's life for the citizens' life, Chloe will say that being together was the best parting gift she could have hoped for and she'll kiss Max if she supported Chloe on all occasions throughout the game. Chloe says she will always love Max and will never forget her. Max promises that she too will never forget Chloe. Max will later try to comfort Joyce and David as best as she can and attend Chloe's funeral. Max looks very pained, but the sight of the butterfly on her coffin makes her smile, perhaps thinking that when she is more experienced, she will know how to save Chloe without causing the tornado.

Chloe and Max leave Arcadia Bay

Chloe and Max leave Arcadia Bay.

If Max decides not to sacrifice Chloe's life for those of the citizens of Arcadia Bay, she throws the photo away. Chloe and Max promise to always be together and wait on the cliff, holding hands, until the storm dies down. After taking a look at the aftermath of the storm, they leave town in Chloe's pickup.

Life is Strange 2[]

Episode Five: Wolves[]

Max and Chloe Life is Strange 2

Max and Chloe still together after years.

From a conversation between David and Sean (the protagonist of Life is Strange 2), it is clear that the relationship between Max and Chloe continues and that the two have been in the community in Arizona where David now has lived for a while. Soon after the conversation, the man gets a call from Chloe implying that Max and Chloe are or have just had a bad experience with someone from New York. It seems that the two intend to come and see him again. It is evident that Chloe and Max continue to be there for each other and are possibly and probably in a romantic relationship.

Life is Strange: True Colors[]

Bonus Episode: Wavelengths[]

While Chloe's two friends, Stephanie and Mikey, are playing a board game, Mikey asks her if she recently heard anything about Chloe and Steph says that she didn't and that all she knows about her is that she is traveling with her friend, clearly Max.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure[]

Chloe does not appear, but is mentioned a lot by Max throughout the game, having played a significant part in Max’s life. Max keeps photographs of Chloe, including one in her wallet, that she all holds precious. Max also thinks back a lot to her time with Chloe, recalling memories of her time spent with Chloe in the first game.

If Chloe is alive, Max has a picture of the two of them while on the road in Arizona. The two had road-tripped together for several years until they had a falling out and went their separate ways. Based on their text history, their falling out seemed to have been about their different ways of coping with the trauma with what happened in Arcadia Bay from the first game. Their last communication with each other is in February of the year that Double Exposure takes place. Towards the end of the game, Chloe texts Max again, concerned about her safety. Max is also implied to later go seek Chloe out for reconciliation, some time after the game ends.

If Chloe had died, then the picture Max has instead is a polaroid of Chloe back in Arcadia Bay. She still thinks about Chloe often and misses her a lot.

Fanon[]

Pricefield is the most popular ship within the Life is Strange fandom. This is due to it being one of the few canon WLW pairings in media, as well as the "true ending" being particularily fanfic fix-it worthy. Pricefield is primarily enjoyed because of Chloe and Max's chemistry and relationship that is stronger than the one of most other ships in the fandom. Since they have more interactions with each other than with other people and have always tried to help each other, fans started to really love this ship.

On AO3, Pricefield has 3,500+ works in its romantic/femslash tag, and has 450+ in its platonic/general tag.
