Princesses of Heart is the friendship between Kairi, Alice, Jasmine, Belle, Aurora, Cinderella and Snow White from the Kingdom Hearts fandom.
Canon[]
The Princesses of Heart are seven maidens whose hearts are free of darkness, meaning they can hold pure light. This has made them targets for those who seek to open the Final Keyhole to Kingdom Hearts, which holds both light and darkness. Should the door to Kingdom Hearts be opened for its darkness, the pure light within the princesses' hearts is able to keep the darkness at bay until a Keyblade Wielder is able to seal it away again. The pure light maidens reside on separate worlds and are mostly princesses, hence the nature of their title. However, being a princess isn't a requirement and the pure light can reside in an non-princess' heart.
Aurora is the first of the princesses to be targeted, as she and Maleficent reside in the same world. After that, Maleficent begins to search for the others. When her plan to steal Aurora's heart fails, leading Aurora to be kidnapped and taken away from her home. Snow White, Cinderella and Belle follow soon after, before the Disney Villains find the other three, who turn out to be Jasmine, Alice and Kairi. Six of the princesses are placed in a sleeping-like state as the villains search for Kairi's missing heart. This allows Ansem, Seeker of Darkness to steal six of the princesses' hearts in order to forge them into a Keyblade to unlock Kingdom Hearts. Sora uses this Keyblade to return Kairi's heart, which also allows the other stolen hearts to return back to their bodies. This wakes all seven maidens from their slumber.
Kairi ends up leaving Hollow Bastian with her friends, while the other six take it upon themselves to stem the darkness with the pure light inside them. They refuse to return back to their home worlds until Kingdom Hearts is sealed once more. This allows Alice, Jasmine, Belle, Aurora, Cinderella, and Snow White to get to know one another as they wait. Belle is given a chance to return home when Beast comes to save her, but she refuses to abandon her post and leave the other princesses to face the darkness on their own. Once the door to Kingdom Hearts is closed and the worlds that were swallowed by the darkness are restored (four of them being the home worlds of Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White and Kairi), all seven maidens are sent home. Because their hearts were used to open the Final Keyhole and then stopped the tide of darkness with their light, Alice, Jasmine, Belle, Aurora, Cinderella, and Snow White had served their assigned role. The pure light in their hearts is passed onto six new maidens. Kairi, however, gets to remain a Princess of Heart, as her heart wasn't used like the others were.

One of the things that people love about KH's Princesses of Heart is the fact that they are a canon group of Disney princesses. Six of them are classic Disney's princesses, apart from Alice who isn't an official princess, while Kairi is an original princess of the Kingdom Hearts series. This has her stand out among the other princesses. It is also one of the reasons why some like to view Kairi as the leader of the group, as well as an honorary Disney Princess. That is why Kairi can be found in some Disney Princess fanworks from within and outside the Kingdom Hearts fandom.
Even though some were sad when Kingdom Hearts III revealed that Alice, Jasmine, Belle, Aurora, Cinderella, and Snow White completing their roles in the first game meant they are no longer Princesses of Heart, while Kairi gets to remain one, they are curious about the new Seven Hearts and who they might be. Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna have been revealed as three of them, while the identities of the other three princesses are currently a mystery. Because the previous six were classic Disney Princesses of the renaissance era, while three of the revealed Seven Hearts are of Disney's modern era films, it has some fans theorizing that the other three might be of that era as well. However, some also hope that the other three will turn out to be other classic animated princesses, like Pocahontas, Kida, and even Tiana (who was the last animated Disney Princess).
