Rusty and Greaseball are about to get in a fight, when Control calls for everyone to stop, introducing their newest coach, Pearl. Greaseball makes fun of Pearl for not wanting to be shoved around and Rusty tells her to leave Pearl alone. Greaseball says she can't race on her own, and Rusty says that he can take one more. She says she's all his, and steps aside. Pearl introduces herself and Rusty does so as well, laughing nervously after. He then introduces her to the other coach's before stepping back to let Dinah take over.

Prusty is a popular ship in the StEx fandom. The two are the main focus of the show, as a result getting a lot of attention from fans. How liked the two are is dependent on the version that fans see. As some only like them in certain versions, liking a different version of their story than others. Its main rival ships include Tendersteam and Pearlball. As well as often being shipped alongside GreaseDinah and Electraboose.
Most fics of the two will take place after the events of the show. Showing how the two navigate their new relationship. Others will write AUs for how the two could have also met. Or just overall new scenarios for the two to be in. Future fics are also popular where the two have been together awhile. Possibly also having a kid together.
On AO3, Prusty is the most written ship for both Pearl and Rusty. It is also the second most written ship in the Starlight Express tag. There are currently 70+ written works.
