Rangshi is the femslash ship between Kyoshi and Rangi from the Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom.

The Rise of Kyoshi[]
Kyoshi and Rangi met while working for Yun, who was incorrectly believed to be the Avatar. Kyoshi was an abandoned girl from the nearby village of Yokoya, and was employed as Yun's personal servant after Master Kelsang took pity on her. Rangi was the daughter of Master Hei-Ran, Yun's appointed firebending teacher. The novel begins with Rangi helping Kyoshi stand up to village bullies. Kyoshi, Rangi, and Yun became very close friends, and Kyoshi and Rangi traveled as part of Yun's team when he faced off against the pirate queen Tagaka.
The masters began to believe that Kyoshi might be the true Avatar, which was confirmed when Master Jianzhu sacrificed Yun to a malevolent spirit. Kyoshi ran from Jianzhu, finding Rangi at the mansion. She hurriedly told Rangi what had happened and that they had to leave, with the two taking some personal possessions and a few provisions before leaving the estate. Kyoshi was surprised but very pleased that Rangi chose to join her.
The two journeyed to the lawless inner provinces of the Earth Kingdom and joined the criminal Flying Opera Company that Kyoshi's parents had once run. In the outlaw town of Hujiang, Rangi impressed Kyoshi by beating a man with only her bare hands and strength. Kyoshi confronted Rangi that night, telling her that she should not have taken such a risk in the arena. Rangi told Kyoshi that although the Avatar could be reborn, Kyoshi could not and that she deserved happiness; that she deserved to feel loved, not afraid. Kyoshi told her she did feel loved before kissing her. Kyoshi was afraid when Rangi pushed her away, only to feel relieved when Rangi told her to kiss somewhere else because that part of her face had been injured in the fight earlier in the night. With that, the two of them became a couple.
Rangi taught firebending to Kyoshi, as well as passing on some airbending techniques she knew, before they started their raid in Zigan Village. However, Rangi was kidnapped by Jianzhu after he stunned their group with a shirshu attack. They reunited outside Qinchao Village, though Rangi told Kyoshi that they would have to part for some time as her mother Hei-Ran had been severely poisoned by Jianzhu.
The Shadow of Kyoshi[]
Kyoshi and Rangi were reunited after close to two years at the Fire Nation Royal Palace, both having been invited to the celebrations by Fire Lord Zoryu. Kyoshi only chose to come to the Fire Nation because of the news that Rangi and Hei-Ran had left the Northern Water Tribe. At the palace gate, Rangi greeted Kyoshi with a passionate kiss. The chancellor led Kyoshi and Rangi to their rooms, where they had some time to theirselves. Kyoshi was excited to be with Rangi, but was unimpressed when they used the time to practice Kyoshi's firebending stances.
At the ball, Rangi told Kyoshi not to touch her hair, as it would be seen as highly disrespectful. Kyoshi had a hard time following this as she loved playing with her girlfriend's hair. Rangi and Kyoshi were shocked to see Yun at the ball holding people hostage, and fought to protect those in danger. The following morning, Rangi fell out with her mother, and threw a table off the palace balcony to show her anger. She only began to calm down somewhat when Kyoshi went to see her in the stables.
The two traveled to North Chung-Ling to visit a Fire Sage, where Kyoshi picked Rangi up on a whim, whirling her around when no-one was around to see her. Kyoshi promised to be with Rangi for as long as she lived. However, things changed again when conflict came to the town, providing an opportunity for Yun to stab Hei-Ran through the throat. During Hei-Ran's recovery, Rangi was furious when she learned that Kyoshi had promised to give her mother to Yun as bait. She told Kyoshi that she meant nothing to her any more, and barged out of the room. A moment later, Rangi stormed back in, screaming that Kyoshi had not eaten since the previous day, giving her noodles that she had cooked with her own firebending to show her affection.
Not wanting Rangi to get hurt, Kyoshi earthbent her in the ground (but not enough to hurt her) as she left to confront Lady Huazo and Chaejin. Kyoshi and Rangi met up in the following month when Kyoshi confronted Yun for the last time. Yun managed to stab Rangi, but Kyoshi used a rare waterbending technique to freeze him to death. Kyoshi used the Avatar State to heal Rangi. After her recovery, the couple buried Yun on a hill overlooking Yokoya. There, Rangi said that although she did not know what the future held, she knew she would spend it with Kyoshi.

Fanon[]
The ship became immediately popular following the release of The Rise of Kyoshi. As it is the first novel in the Avatar franchise, the shipping experience was somewhat different as they were already a couple canonically by the end of the book. It opposed the Yunshi ship between Kyoshi and Yun, but as the fandom for the novels is smaller, the conflicts are smaller and less heated than the main ATLA and LoK shipping wars. Although some worried that Rangi might die in the sequel, fans were very pleased when Kyoshi and Rangi stayed together in The Shadow of Kyoshi.

- Although Kyoshi novel author F. C. Yee does not own the rights to Kyoshi as a character beyond her teenage years, he told readers that he believed that the couple would be happy together for the future.[citation needed]
