RariPants is the het ship between Rarity and Fancy Pants from the My Little Pony fandom.

Canon

The two first meet in "Sweet and Elite" while Rarity is visiting Canterlot and runs into Fancy Pants and Fleur de Lis. Rarity recognizes the socially prominent stallion, and in embarrassment at having run into him lets slip that she's staying at the royal palace. This arrangement, which Rarity obtained through her friend Twilight Sparkle, impresses Fancy Pants, as does the fact that Rarity is a personal acquaintance of Princess Celestia. She apologizes for their collision, but Fancy Pants remarks that he's glad for the encounter. He then invites a stunned Rarity to join him in the VIP box he's reserved for the upcoming Wonderbolts derby, and only after she stutters out an affirmative does Fancy Pants ask her name.

In considering the situation later, Rarity refers to Fancy Pants as "the most important pony in Canterlot" and reflects that spending time with him and his social circle could be quite beneficial to her. She thus decides that it would be a good idea to attend the derby with him in spite of her other obligations, including making a dress for Twilight's upcoming birthday. When she arrives at the derby, Fancy Pants expresses gratitude that she was able to join him and introduces her to his friends. As they settle in to watch, Fancy Pants comments his pick to win the derby, only for Rarity to favor another candidate who proves to be the winner. Intrigued, Fancy Pants asks for the source of Rarity's intuition, and she names her friend Rainbow Dash; however, in a moment of self-consciousness, Rarity falsely claims that Rainbow Dash is the trainer of the Wonderbolts, further impressing Fancy Pants with her supposed circle of acquaintances.

Fancy Pants promptly declares Rarity his "new favorite party guest", which has the effect of making her sought after by his various high society associates. Rarity later declares that meeting Fancy Pants "was the best thing that's ever happened to [her]." She is soon joining Fancy Pants and his friends for various events around Canterlot. However, this has the effect of delaying her return to Ponyville for Twilight's birthday, prompting her friends to join her in Canterlot for the celebration instead. When Pinkie Pie mentions that their venue for the party is "fancy pants", Rarity briefy misinterprets the comment as mention of Fancy Pants' name.

However, Rarity finds herself torn between the festivities for Twilight and the latest event to which she's been invited by Fancy Pants' friends: the Canterlot garden party. She darts back and forth between the two events, until eventually the two groups of ponies encounter each other. Rarity is initially horrified, having feared for some time that her new "friends" would become aware of her humble Ponyville origins. However, when the truth comes out, Rarity finds the courage to admit that Twilight and the others are her friends and express how much they mean to her. Unlike several of his own friends, Fancy Pants is quite taken with Rarity's real friends and asks Rarity to introduce him to them.

In "A Canterlot Wedding", the pair meet again at the wedding of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. In "Between Dark and Dawn", Fancy Pants learns that Twilight and her friends have been put in charge of the upcoming Royal Swanifying while Princesses Celestia and Luna are on vacation. When Fancy Pants offers the assistance of himself and his friends, Rarity is eager to accept the offer, only for Twilight to decline it. Fancy Pants is skeptical of her claims that they have the situation handled, and his opinion is soon justified.

He later makes a negative comment about the decorations Rarity has thrown together in some haste, though Rarity takes offense at his remark. Eventually, Fancy Pants explains to Twilight, Rarity, and their friends that the princesses always ask for help for such events. He then questions whether certain decorations are "sequins"; once again, Rarity is offended. In spite of this, Rarity later mentions in "Growing Up is Hard to Do" that she's created a design for Fancy Pants' upcoming "Monocle and Top Hat Appreciation Soiree." In "The Last Problem", Fancy Pants is among the significant ponies and other creatures Rarity remembers during the song "The Magic of Friendship Grows."

RariPants enjoys some popularity among fans, likely based on the interactions between the pair in Friendship is Magic. Fancy Pants is an appealing partner for Rarity as he matches her high-class tastes but is also genuinely likable, making the ship preferable to Rariblood. However, it falls behind other pairings for Rarity, such as Sparity. Fancy Pants is also not entirely without other ships, with many favoring a pairing between him and Fleur de Lis.
