Red Moon is the het ship between Luna and Ron from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
At the beginning of their acquaintance, Ron Weasley thought Luna was weird and was not particularly interested in knowing her, even occasionally referring to her as "Loony". Luna, on the other hand, seemed to find Ron very funny but rather insensitive in his relationships at times. Ron eventually grew fonder of Luna and becoming friends with her after getting to know her better through Dumbledore's Army and her being one of the only D.A. members to come to the trio's assistance when they tried to save Sirius Black, during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.
Ron was particularly amused by Luna's Quidditch commentary in 1996 and thought highly of her bravery. When she attended his brother Bill's wedding, Ron was further amused by her behavior and remarked that she gave "good value". However, Ron was still prone to teasing Luna and scoffing at her unusual beliefs at times. In 1997, Ron and Luna also fought at the Battle of the Astronomy Tower.
One year later, Ron and Luna briefly met as the two were captured at the Malfoy Manor along with Harry, Hermione, Garrick Ollivander, Dean Thomas and Griphook. They were saved by Dobby, who was killed in the process. Later that year, the two fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, where Luna, Seamus Finnigan and Ernie Macmillan saved Ron, Harry and Hermione from Dementors. Ron and Luna both survived the war.
Luna and Ron remained in contact in adulthood. In 2014, the two attended the Quidditch World Cup final along with other former members of Dumbledore's Army and family.

Fanon[]
RedMoon is a very popular side pairing in Harmony fanfiction. Many fans who shipped Harmony during the release of Order of the Phoenix started shipping it as Luna showed some interest in Ron when the two first met. Occasionally, the two pairings are also shipped alongside Draco/Ginny or Neville/Ginny. Outside of being a side pairing there isn't that much of a fanbase.
The ship name, Red Moon, was coined by members on the Harry Potter message board FictionAlley Park in 2003. On AO3 it is the tenth most written ship for Luna. There are currently 387 written works.
