RED-HANDED
Emma and Mary Margaret are walking down the street when they see Whale trying to hit on Ruby. Emma tells him to move along, which he does, and Mary Margaret asks if he was bothering her. Ruby says she can handle a guy like that, and says that she plans to leave town. Ruby's not sure where she's going, and Emma says that the bus out of town don't really happen. An actual destination would help. Ruby starts to become overwhelmed, and Mary Margaret offers to let her stay with them for awhile. Emma is hesitant but agrees for a few day and Ruby goes home with the two.
The next day, Emma comes into the station and sees Ruby answering the phone to help some people calling. She asks how the job hunt with Henry is going, and Ruby says she really can't do anything. Emma says she's sure that's not true, and points to her handling the calls, but Ruby says it's nothing. Emma says it's not, and says that she had money in the budget if Ruby wants to help out. Ruby happily says yes, and asks what she needs help with, as she really wants to be useful. Emma asks her for lunch and Ruby happily leaves to go grab some.
When she gets back, she sarcastically says she knows how to get food and Emma tells her that they're gonna eat in the car. She says she needs to do a wilderness search and is going to need some help. Ruby says she's pretty sure she'll just screw it up, but Emma says that she can do it. They head out to the woods, and Ruby keeps insisting that she's going to mess up, when she says she hears something. Emma asks if she's sure, and Ruby asks if Emma can hear it, before taking off. Emma says she can't when Ruby calls that she found David. Emma quickly follows and sees that she was right.

Red Swan is a rarepair in the OUAT fandom. It had quite a few fans in the first season, but started to lose followers as Ruby had less appearances as the series went on. As well as the two not having a lot of focus on their relationship. On AO3, there are currently 120+ written works.
