Canon[]
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]
In the 20th Event Match, "All-Star Battle x1", Lucas and the Pokémon Trainer are two of the opponents.
The Subspace Emissary[]
After Wario turns Ness into a trophy, Lucas is forced to flee the scene, terrified for his life and losing the only friend he made, he bumps into another kid without looking. The taller kid turns out to be a "Pokémon Trainer", the two boys are swiftly threatened by a group of Primids. Lucas is scared, but the Pokémon Trainer gently puts his hand on Lucas' shoulder, smiling when he presents his Pokéball. Summoning a Pokémon, the two boys battle the Primids.
After the Primids are defeated, the Pokémon Trainer collects his Pokémon again and waves goodbye to Lucas. But Lucas isn't done yet, thinking of Ness and follows him.
Together, they look for a Charizard, finding one flying by a mountain. The trainer shows Lucas two Pokémon cards, an Ivysaur and a Charizard and points out that they found what he was looking for. But before they could follow it into cave temple, they are ambushed by Wario. Lucas has flashbacks to Ness being captured, but he's not going to let Wario win this time. He takes a fighting stance alongside the Pokémon Trainer and turns Wario into a trophy, the boys then hi-five each other. But the celebrative mood doesn't last as Lucas remembers Ness, can't fight him near Wario and gets sad. The Pokémon Trainer lays a comforting hand on Lucas' shoulder. They then hear the roar of a mighty beast coming from inside the temple.
In the temple, the Pokémon Trainer catches a trophified Ivysaur, with Lucas looking at him happily. Having trophified Charizard, they manage to catch that one as well. Venturing deeper into the temple, they find themselves in some type of arena, looking around it. But as they stood there observing, the ceiling starts to rumble and a giant monster named Galleom fell from the surface, knocking them back. They start battling it, but before they could defeat it, it grabs them with its huge hand, starting a time bomb with its head. It then flies up with them, but Lucas uses PK Thunder while the Pokémon Trainer is unable to do anything. Hitting the monster's metallic arm, the arm is cut off and both boys start falling to the ground. Lucas grabs onto the Pokémon Trainer, bracing for impact, but they are saved by Meta Knight at the very last second. Recovering from their fall, Lucas gives the Trainer a hand and he shakes it.
Having joined Meta Knight's group of Marth and Ike from that point on, they witness the Ice Climbers falling from a mountain. Shadow Bugs then start swarming the ground they are standing on, with Lucas and the Pokémon Trainer joining the fight against them. The two of them are finally reunited with most of the other fighters, as the entire cast prepares for the fight against the Subspace Army. On board of some of the smaller gunships, the fighters make their way into Subspace, but are then effortlessly trophified by Tabuu and need to be rescued by Ness, Luigi and King Dedede.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS[]
The Pokémon Trainer and Lucas are two of the characters that initially couldn't make the jump to the fourth game. Lucas was eventually added as DLC, but only the Trainer's Charizard remained playable.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
Pokémon trainer as well as all the other characters of all the saga including Lucas, they are both unlockable characters and are in the base roster of the game.
Fanon[]
Redcas has moderate popularity in the fandom, largely because of their interactions in Brawl. However, it takes a backseat to Nesscas, despite Red and Lucas having far more 1-on-1 interactions. It is still the most popular ship for Red, to the point where it's his only Smash ship with fanfiction.
