Redfire is the het ship between Starfire and Red Star from the Teen Titans fandom.

Canon

Being immune to radiation, Starfire is able to be within close proximity to Red Star, the closest he has been to someone in years.

While on a mission in Russia, Starfire and her fellow Teen Titans came across a destroyed city. The struggling survivors, told them that an outcast (Red Star) was responsible for this and had to be stopped. The Titans then left in their airship to find and confront this outcast. However, they had encountered difficulties in finding him; first because of a powerful blizzard and then an attack by a mysterious creature. The creature was shown to be very powerful, easily gaining the upper hand against the Titans. What’s worse, they could not physically attack it, since the creature was made of pure radiation. However, Starfire, being a Tameranian, was immune to radiation and thus stood the best chance against the monster. When the creature fled into the wilderness, Starfire pursued the creature despite Robin’s warnings.

Eventually, as she wandered deeper into the storm, she not only lost sight of the creature but also how to get back to her friends. Though her Tameranian physiology protects her from the cold in the vacuum of space, it does not shield her from the moisture in the snow which creeps into her skin from contact and causes her to freeze. Eventually the elements take their toll of her and she collapses in the snow. However, before she was buried under the snow and froze to death, Red Star appeared. Seeing that she was helpless and close to death, he decided to rescue her, despite having no idea who she was. Scooping her up out of the snow, the outcast threw the insensate girl over his shoulder and carried her off deeper into the storm. Once inside the industrial complex that Red Star had made his him, he gently laid her on the floor to rest and warm, while he retreated into his workout room, fearing being any more close to her with endanger her life due to the radiation he omitted.

When Starfire awoke, she initially mistook Red Star as a kidnapper and was ready to fight, especially since her communicator was not working. However, Red Star calmly revealed that he rescued not abducted her and the too became more civil with each other. Starfire was grateful for Red Star carrying her to safety, but was confused as to why he had to isolate himself. When Red Star told her about his radiation, Starfire put his worries to rest, revealing her species’s immunity to radiation. This allowed them to be in close distance to each other and showed their willingness to do so. The two continued to bond as the storm prevented Starfire from journeying outside and thus was stuck at Red Star’s home. Starfire and Red Star got to know each other better during this time and bonding as friends. Starfire even has a strong love of Red Star’s cooking which helped add to their friendship. However, when the creature was seemingly detected by Red Star’s sensors, Starfire admonished him for refusing to help others and just stay in his base. This attitude changed, when she saw him shed off some of his powers, for if he does not continuously, then he could accidentally destroyed an entire area as he did to the city from earlier. This cause Starfire to heavily pity Red Stars and wished to help his condition.

After the other Titans arrived at the base, the radiation creature from before attacked. The Titans’ could do little to harm the monster and so Starfire pleaded with Red Star to help them. It was her pleas that motivated him to at last fight the creature. However, the fighting between them was soon stopped when Red Star had to shed off more of his energy. Starfire was visibly worried about him when this happened. After the creature, which had grown stronger after absorbing the canister with Red Star’s shedded energy, escaped and went to destroy what was left of the city, Starfire taught and encouraged Red Star how to use his powers for good. It was her support and wisdom that motivated Red Star to return to the village and save them from the monster. On the way there however, he began to falter as he promised the survivors he would never return. Starfire however, once again reassured him and through her wisdom, Red Star’s resolve was strengthened.

When they finally arrived at the village, the survivors voiced their anger at Red Star’s return and threatened him to leave. Starfire sternly came to his defense and admonished the survivors for their treatment of Red Star when the accident was not his fault, but the survivors’ leader , general Raskov, since he was the one who made Red Star what he is now. During the fight with the creature, Red Star saved Starfire when the beast tried to finish her off. He showed concern for his friend once again when he told her stay back as he fought the monster, despite her insistence on helping him. It was through his desire to protect her that he managed to destroy the creature.

Though he triumphed and killed the radiation monster, Red Star’s powers were once again overload and he was soon to explode. Starfire saddened about his illness, solemnly offered to fly him into space where he would not hurt anyone as he detonated. Red Star agreed, but told the other Titans not to worry about him, for he was no longer alone. When saying this, he was especially facing Starfire, showing that he was very grateful to her for ending his loneliness and becoming his first true friend. Starfire was touched by this gratitude and blushed at his kind words. She then proceeded to fly him into space where the two had an silent but heavily emotional goodbye. As their hands drifted apart, the two stared at each other intently and seemingly longingly. When Red Star exploded and seemingly died, Starfire was saddened and silently returned to Earth. After returning to her friends on Earth however, Starfire voiced her belief that she was confident that Red Star would return one day to repay them.

Her prediction came true, when Red Star, now in full control of his powers, returned to help the Titans battle against the Brotherhood of Evil. It is implied that it was Red Star who saved his friend Starfire from being eaten alive by Killer Moth’s moths. He and Bumblebee then joined Starfire in attacking the Brotherhood’s secret base in Paris, with them fighting side by side. Even after going their separate ways, they still remain in contact and continue to have a strong friendship. This friendship and contact with each other grew, after Red Star joined the Titan’s North, making them distant teammates.

Redstar, is one of the less look on ships of the Teen Titans (animated) fandom. Despite this there are still those who enjoy the chemistry between Starfire and Red Star and support the ship between them online.
