Refined Oil is the femslash ship between Pearl and Slick from the Starlight Express fandom.

Pearl is with the other coaches when the sound of the freight train rolled in, causing her distress. The other coaches explain their own annoyance with the freight, when the fuel trucks come in, including Slick. Pearl and the coaches quickly get out of their way, before going in the center and making fun of them. The coaches then line up with the fuel trucks behind them. Slick and Pearl in same place before the passenger cars take off. Later, as all the cars leave to find partners, Slick passes Pearl without a second thought.
As the trains hype themselves for the last race, Slick and the other freight trains make Pearl and the coaches get off the main stage. Wanting the center to hype up for themselves. For the final race, Pearl agrees to race with Greaseball while Slick races with Rusty. Pearl unaware that Slick is only doing so to crash Rusty.

Refined Oil is a rarepair in the StEx fandom. Mostly do the two not having any significant interactions in the show itself. Some like them as an opposites attract ship. With Pearl being a nice and feminine coach, while Slick is a rough and masculine freight. Some have also compared it to French Pearls, with Slick essentially taking Coco's place in that dynamic. As Slick would be seen as bullying Pearl because she likes her. Though this is more of a fanon interpretation given that Slick doesn't go after Pearl more than any of the other freight go after the coaches.
Due to Pearl being new to the yard, it is believed that she wouldn't know anything about Slick's reputation. Unaware that Slick would be crashing trains for cash. This could lead to her falling in love with Slick, but not knowing until after how dangerous she is--something Pearl may be attracted to Pearl because she is dangerous.
