- — Reiner wants to marry Historia
ReiKuri is the het ship between Reiner Braun and Historia Reiss from the Attack on Titan fandom.
Canon[]
Historia and Reiner didn't seem to be very close, but Reiner seemed to have an interest for her since season one in the anime and the manga. He brought up multiple times how he wanted to marry her; the first time was when Reiner, Jean, and Armin escaped from the Female Titan's grasp. They had only one horse since Armin lost his while trying to escape from the Female Titan, and Jean's horse ran away. As they waited for somebody to help them, Historia came with two extra horses. Reiner thought in his mind that she had to be his wife.
Another time was when Reiner saved Connie from a titan by carrying it to the edge of the window sill, and Bertolt and Ymir helped push it down before it could cause any more trouble. Reiner's arm was wounded from the bite, so Historia tried to help him by pouring alcohol into his wound and ripping her skirt to wrap around Reiner's arm. Historia apologized to Reiner for using her dirty skirt, but Reiner assured her that it was fine. In his mind, he thought to himself that he had to marry her.
In the finale chapter, Armin was reading a letter from Historia out loud. When Armin was done reading, Reiner took the letter from his hands and sniffed it, claiming that Historia's handwriting was beautiful and smelled nice. Jean lectured Reiner, saying that he shouldn't lust over a married woman. Reiner ignored him, still holding onto Historia's letter as he and his comrades began teasing Jean for fixing his hair.
Late Night Stories[]
Late Night Stories are a bundle of short stories by Hajime, showing the brief lives of each character in the Attack on Titan world. In Late Night Stories Vol. 05 Reiner Braun A Story of Absent-Mindedness, Historia was found to be impressed with Reiner's shirtless body and asked him if she and Mina could touch his abs. Reiner, surprised, said that they may touch him. As they were touching him, they complimented him, saying his abs were nice. Ymir teased Reiner by saying that he had a nice chest, which encouraged Krista and Mina to touch his chest, arms, and back.
Attack On Junior High[]
In Attack on Junior High Manga, Reiner has an enormous crush on Krista. In the manga, Reiner is always willing to help Krista whenever he can, and Ymir doesn't mind him as he helps Krista. However, in the anime, Ymir always pushes Reiner away every time he tries to assist/save Krista to save Krista herself. Ymir would glare at Reiner after the task is done. In another chapter, Reiner invited Krista to the festival, Krista agreed to go, but only if Ymir could come too. Reiner then suggests that Ymir should go with Bertolt, in which Ymir responds that Krista would come with her. In the end, they agreed to go to the festival together. When Krista arrives at the festival, Reiner boldly exclaims to her that she looks cute, and she jumps in surprise and thanks him gratefully. In the anime, as Reiner is about to compliment Krista's outfit, Ymir kicks him out of the way and compliments Krista herself as Reiner glares up at her from the floor.
Fanon[]
Many people dislike this ship due to the canon ship involving Historia, YumiHisu. Others also question Historia's sexuality as there are those who headcanon Historia as a lesbian and believe it's unfair to ship ReiKuri. Some other shippers dislikes ReiKuri because they believe that the popular ship, ReiBert, has something more than being just friends. There are fans that believe that Reiner is gay because of his conversation with Ymir, as Ymir teased him saying that she believed he had no interest in women.
As ReiKuri is one of the few of Historia's relationships involving romantic feelings, it may be a possible reason for it's shippers to like it.
