- I've always known... from the beginning. What my master really is... is a genuinely good guy.
- —Mob to Reigen
ReiMob is the slash ship between Arataka Reigen and Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama from the Mob Psycho 100 fandom.
Canon[]
Reigen and Mob first met when Mob was 10 years old. After an incident with his powers, Mob visited Spirits & Such Consultation in hopes of finding help to regulate his psychic abilities. Reigen, skeptical at first, initially thought that Mob was lying, but decided to hear him out anyway. Mob explained that he had never told anyone about his powers, and that he showed up because he thought Reigen was also an esper. Despite his doubts, Reigen offered Mob genuine advice, telling him that having psychic powers doesn't make him any more special than anyone else, and that what matters is that he's a good person. Mob asked if he could come back the next day, and Reigen expressed disinterest, saying he was busy. However, he then tripped and spilled his tea, which Mob was able to catch and put back into the cup with his powers. Seeing this, Reigen realized that Mob wasn't lying, and that he truly does have psychic powers. Upon hearing from Mob that he can see and exorcise spirits, Reigen hired him, taking on the role of a mentor to him.
Mob continues to work at Spirits & Such Consultation for the next four years, assisting Reigen with exorcisms and going on jobs with him to defeat evil spirits. When Mob's younger brother Ritsu is kidnapped by the organization Claw, Mob goes after him to save him, but is eventually captured and held hostage in the same room as Ritsu, Teruki, and other esper kids. Reigen, after not hearing from Mob all day, becomes worried and uses the geolocation feature on his phone to track where Mob's cellphone is (here he also mentions he was the one who bought Mob his phone). After tricking the espers guarding the facility into thinking that he's the organization's boss, Reigen is able to successfully enter the building and be led to Mob and the others in order to help them escape. This plan is interrupted once they are all confronted by the division's Scars and leader and are forced to fight, in which Mob protects Reigen from being sucked in by a psychic black hole. Towards the end of the battle, an overwhelmed and stressed Mob realizes that in order to save those he loves, he has to fight with everything he's got, and that he doesn't care what happens to the people attacking him. This nearly leads to him having an emotional explosion of 100% Murderous Intent, however, he is snapped out of it by Reigen, who tells him not to do it because he'll regret it, and that it's okay to run away and save himself. This causes Mob's emotional energy to change direction and temporarily transfer over to Reigen, who is able to use Mob's powers to deflect the remaining Scars' attacks and effectively stop the battle by breaking their morale.
Reigen heavily depends on Mob to keep his business afloat, and would regularly call him into work on short notice. As Mob sought to improve himself and joined the Body Improvement Club, he eventually had to start turning down Reigen's calls, stating that he should let him know when to come in much sooner.
This culminates in the Separation Arc, where Reigen and Mob have a falling out, causing Mob to temporarily quit his job at Reigen's office. Reigen tries to escape his guilt and self-loathing by going to a bar and getting drunk, which leads to him hyperventilating and throwing up in an alley. However, after Reigen leaves the bar, the bartender says he put no alcohol in Reigen's drink, which means Reigen's reaction wasn't an alcohol-induced sickness - it was a panic attack, and Reigen didn't even realize it. Meanwhile, Mob was able to spend more time with his friends, something he'd been unable to do due to Reigen's sudden work calls. After Reigen was outted as a fraud and held a press conference, he meets Mob outside on a bridge. He asks Mob if he's heard anything from the news, to which Mob replies that he's always known. Reigen assumes that Mob means he's always known Reigen isn't really an esper, but Mob finishes his sentence, stating that he always knew Reigen was a genuinely good guy.
