Remily is the het ship between Remus Lupin and Lily Evans from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
Remus and Lily were in the same year at Hogwarts. Both also belonged to the same house, Gryffindor. While Lily didn't initially get on well with two of Remus's best friends, James Potter and Sirius Black, this didn't mean she didn't get on well with him. As Remus was the more mature and sensible of the group, and didn't take part in their bullying towards other students, Lily enjoyed his company more than the others.
Eventually, Lily gave James a chance as a partner, seeing a profound change in his manner, and grew closer to his group of friends, including Remus himself. Their relationship consummated in marriage after graduating Hogwarts, in a ceremony at which Sirius was the best man and Remus likely also attended. All became members of the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War and fought together in several battles. When Peter Pettigrew betrayed the Potters to Voldemort, leading to the tragic deaths of James and Lily, Remus was devastated. Later, he joined Lily's son Harry as a father figure and mentor. After Lupin was killed during the Battle of Hogwarts, they were two of the four spirits Harry summoned using the Resurrection Stone.
Eventually, Harry took care of Remus's son, Teddy Lupin. He forged a relationship with him similar to the one he had with Remus himself in life, fulfilling his role as Teddy's godfather.
Fanon[]
Remily is somewhat of a rarepair in the Marauders fandom, especially when looking at the romantic version of the ship. It is much more popular as a friendship, since much of the fandom headcanons Remus as a gay man. Both characters are shown to be prefects and studious learners, which helps support their friendship. Fanworks often portray Lily and Remus as friends, which causes jealousy in James. It is also often shown that Remus is the only Marauder that Lily can actually stand being around.
The biggest rivals for Remily are Wolfstar and Jily. The friendship version of this pairing often features in fanworks alongside those two romantic pairings.
On AO3, there are over 400 works for this pairing. It is much more popular as a friendship, with over 2000 works. The platonic version of Remily is Remus' fifth most popular ship.
