- —Mitsuri's thoughts on Kyojuro
RenMitsu is the het ship between Kyojuro Rengoku and Mitsuri Kanroji from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
When the two met for the very first time is unknown. However, they have indeed been shown to have a very close relationship with each other.
Though Rengoku would be rather strict while training Mitsuri, back when he was Kinoe and she was Mizunoto. Such as stating that she wouldn't be able to hold her ground as a swordsman if she doesn't try harder and saying that her body has gotten "weak" ever since they stopped training for a long time and declaring that they should train longer, though she was exhausted and Senjuro had prepared food to them and requested that they she should take a break. He is initially kind to her, outside of training.
A demonstration of their kindness to each other is when the two enjoy food together made by Senjuro. They both loved the food Senjuro prepared and even Mitsuri even complimented Rengoku once he did a gleeful outburst after eating a sweet potato made by his younger brother.
Rengoku also gifted Mitsuri with a Haori in celebration for her passing the Final Selection after only training for six months, which he commended and later revealed that he already views Mitsuri as more than a student whom thanks him and decides to address by his name and promises she'll do her best as an official Demon Slayer.
Later when Rengoku is assigned to mission to see if he'll qualify as a Hashira. He is accompanied by Mitsuri and a few other Demon Slayer whom he instructs to call him by crow so he can assist them as fast as possible if they encounter the Demon. Mitsuri also claims Rengoku was very amazing when he was commanding the other slayers.
The two are walking around the capital and as the two converse, a child accidentally bumps into Mitsuri's back, which causes him to fall over. Mitsuri crouches down and checks to see if the child is okay but the kid's mother suddenly appears. She notices and pulls her child away from her instantly and asks her what on earth was she doing to her child. But before Mitsuri could explain, the mom notices and points out her hair for looking strange and accuses her of being a kidnapper once she sees the latter with a sword. She then threatens to call the cops but Rengoku fortunately intervenes and explains to her that her child only fell over.
Though the problem was resolved, Mitsuri feels down as she remembers something she was told in her past. That a man told her that she would never be welcomed by any man if she allowed her hair to stay the way it was. Rengoku notices and comforts his pupil. The moment is cut short however when an explosion can be heard.
After noticing the explosion, Mitsuri decides to rush and help anyone who's nearby but even though Rengoku requested her to wait she persists to advance. But then a bullet suddenly just barely misses her due to Kyojuro pulling her away. Before the unknown assaulter could fire another shot he is suddenly attacked by Kyojuro himself. It is later revealed that this Demon is one of the Twelve Kizuki, being the Lower Rank two
During the battle, The Demon eventually blows himself up along with Rengoku. Mitsuri hears the occurrence and worries for her master's sake. She quickly runs to try and aid him but is swiftly grabbed and immobilized by the same Demon who then puts a gun to her head, terrifying her.
The Demon laments about how he specialized in torturing others, even when he was human and declares that killing Rengoku isn't enough. He must make sure that he kills his family and his colleagues right before his very eyes.
Before he can kill Mitsuri. Rengoku strikes the Demon down with Fifth Form: Flame Tiger, saving her life. He quickly orders her to disarm the bombs that have been placed around the capital and that he'll fight the Demon.
As Mitsuri struggles to fight off the other demons she then sees the mother and son from earlier and suddenly gains the strength to cut through the demons. She promises that she'll protect the two and remembers a moment where she was talking with Kyojuro and gains the motivation needed and defeats the demons, saving the mother and her child.
After Rengoku manages to take down the Lower Moon. He becomes exhausted but remembers that he has to defuse the bombs. But he is suddenly hugged by Mitsuri who tearfully congratulates him and tells him he can become a pillar now that he won against one of the twelve kizuki.
When Rengoku was sent to the Mugen Train. He ended up successfully protecting every single passenger, but encountered Akaza who was upper rank three. After refusing Akaza's offer to become a Demon, the two battle and it lasts until daybreak, forcing Akaza to retreat but Rengoku was fatally wounded and later died of his injuries.
Mitsuri, along with the other Hashira are informed of this and she was devastated and saddened after hearing the information.

RenMitsu is very known within the Demon Slayer fandom. The ship sailed as Rengoku's gaiden became more popular as Mitsuri and Rengoku are seen often talking to each other and two both have great respect for one another. However, there are not too many fans that ship them in a romantic sense. Due to Mitsuri viewing Rengoku as a big brother, and canonically being in love with Iguro. In romantic terms the ship is often overshadowed by RenGiyuu and RenKaza for Rengoku, along with ObaMitsu and ShinoMitsu for Mitsuri. Despite it being impaired to other ships romantically. It is still loved by the fandom and has a fair amount and fanart along with over 50 works on Ao3.
Their fanart's commonly consist of the two just hanging out (whether it be romantic or just in an friendship sense), eating together, Mitsuri and Rengoku both carrying each other bridal style, displaying their strength together like good sportsmen ship, just having a good time with each other, Mitsuri visting Rengoku and Senjuro and just overall wholesome images of the two that will just make you adore them and maybe even tug your heartstrings a bit.
