Still: 11

RetaNori is the het ship between Norihiro Edomurasaki and Lettuce Midorikawa in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom.

Canon[]

Lettuce first saw Norihiro telling an elderly person in a wheelchair cross the street. She immediately found him to be attractive but did not speak to him. She later encountered him at a library and still did not speak with him but would see him regularly. One day, when Lettuce was struggling to reach a book on the shelf, Norihiro grabbed a book about Lamaze (natural childbirth) and handed it to her, asking if that was the book she wanted. It was not the book that Lettuce was trying to reach but she still told it was because she was too embarrassed to say otherwise.

Lettuce and Norihiro later sat at a table in the library's lounge area to chat. Norihiro commented that young girls usually do not read much in the modern day and asked Lettuce what kinds of books she likes. Lettuce said that she reads novels but also likes books with photo collections of destinations that she would like to see. She asked if that was weird and Norihiro told her that it was not weird at all. Lettuce's mood became more chipper in the following days and the other mew mews picked up on this. Ichigo assumed that Lettuce had a new boyfriend while she and the other mews had questions but Lettuce explained that he was not her boyfriend.

Norihiro later gave Lettuce a book with photos of Tahiti as a gift. Lettuce loved the gift and Norihiro said that he enjoyed seeing her smile, as it brightened his mood, and thanked her. Ichigo and the other mew mews later looked at the gift and determined that Norihiro must feel the same way about Lettuce if he gave her a gift. They then encouraged Lettuce to confess her feelings. She decided to make a bento for Norihiro and bring it to the library for him.

Lettuce brought the bento to the library but Norihiro was nowhere to be seen. She looked around for him and sat for a long time, waiting for him, before she gave up and tried to leave. Lettuce then bumped into Norihiro by the entrance, who explained that his class had ran over, and was about to confess to him when Pie and a group of chimera animals attacked the library. Norihiro led Lettuce to a window to escape but called out for a woman named Satsuki after hearing her scream. Lettuce followed Norihiro and found him helping up the library receptionist, who was his girlfriend.

Lettuce was heartbroken but led the two to safety so that she could transform and help the other mew mews fight off the chimera animals. After they were done, they saw Norihiro with Satsuki from a distance. Lettuce tearfully told the other mews that she was okay with a smile because he was happy. She later lamented that her heart did hurt after the experience but she was thankful for the fact that she had fallen in love.

Fanon[]

RetaNori is not a popular ship in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom. This is because of the fact that Norihiro is a character who was exclusive to the original anime and only appeared in one episode. Fans find the age difference between them to be too large as Lettuce was in jr. high school while Norihiro was in college, although the English dub had Lettuce aged up to high school. There is also the fact that Norihiro already had a girlfriend named Satsuki prior to his appearance, and they got engaged at the end of the episode. There is only one work for the pairing on AO3. RetaNori rivals the NoriSatsu, RetaRyo, and RetaPai pairings.
