Plot[]
On the last day of 1999, the "Storm" fell upon the world. You witnessed an era reversed beneath the rising raindrops. Defying all reasons, what unfolds in front of you is the world of an era long past.
As the Timekeeper, observer of eras, you are free to travel through these eras after each "Storm." With the aid of Sonetto, a powerful Arcanist and ally from the Foundation, your mission is to travel through eras to where the "Storm" is most active, find other Arcanists who can sense the coming "Storm," and save them from being "sifted out" of the timeline.

Mixed arcanists are those born from both human and arcanist lineages.
Awakened arcanists are those who started off as simple, inanimate objects but later gained sentience and awareness.
Arcanists from beyond this world. They have origins that are linked to something outside the natural world, instead of arcanum.
Although very little is known, they are the 5% of surviving victims of the Beyond Disease, which causes significant changes to their bodies and minds.

Fanon[]
The fanbase for Reverse: 1999 while smaller in comparison to fandoms for games like Genshin Impact, but is nonetheless still a dedicated one since upon the game's release. Most prominent social media’s that the fandom is common to find in is Twitter, TikTok, Bilbili, Youtube, Weibo, Discord and Reddit.
The fandom often praises the game for having female characters be the center point of the story and not for sexual fanservice. It's also often praised for being the few anime-style gacha games to not have a self-insert MC, as Vertin is often said to be a well-written main character and protagonist. With all this in mind the game also often prioritizes on female relationships, especially Yuri ones. So because of that the fandom's shipping culture mainly consists and centers on Yuri (GxG) ships.
Besides its focus on female relationships, the game is also known for their characters designs, with them often being know for having a more inclusive set of characters along with its creative non-human characters. Same thing is also often said for the voice acting in the fandom.
Though at times the fanbase is at heads or in other words an "Fandom Rivalry with Genshin Impact's fanbase, occasionally Zenless Zone Zero's fanbase as well, as it is more or less fans of Genshin finally getting fed-up with the lack of representation and migrating to Reverse. This is not helped that Reverse: 1999 is often praise for its diverse representation and accurate clothing attire, let alone skin tones. Whereas Genshin's treatment of Polynesian, indigenous American, African and Middle-Eastern cultures and the characters they are meant to represent has been less than impressive to many. This sparked even more when controversy around the character designs in the Natlan update were shown but others in the fanbase voiced they're annoyance how Reverse: 1999 is seemingly only used by said people who bring it up as a comeback argument for that controversy instead of actually being interested in the game for its story and gameplay, eventually this died out but every once in a while its mentioned in the fanbase while others simply just feel like their game is better then the other.
The fandom is often friendly to Arknights's fanbase as plenty of Arknights fans are drawn to Reverse: 1999 due to the latter featuring prominent English dub like the former, with both games also having certain similarities in their lore and themes, certain gameplay elements, dense and detailed worldbuilding drawing extensively from real-world history, and similarly diverse and numerous cast members.

- The game has been confirmed to be a female-focused story game, so with that in mind the female characters are more prioritized then the male ones.
- Despite the game being made in China its original language is actually in English, as in the original dub is English instead of Chinese, along with the English voice acting being prioritized first rather its Chinese Dub counterpart.
