Ripaxel is the het ship between Ripper and Axel from the Total Drama fandom.
Canon[]
Total Drama Island 2023[]
Ripper and Axel were both placed on the "Ferocious Trout." In "Meet The Victims," Ripper gets angry at Wayne and Raj, so he attempts to go up to them, resulting in Axel pushing him back and telling him to "save it for the game." Ripper angrily responds, telling Axel to not tell him what to do. Axel then intimidates him, so Ripper eventually agrees. Later, when Ripper asks if the cabins are co-ed, Axel drops her bag on his foot and then asks if she can vote now, implying wants to get rid of Ripper immediately.
In the next episode, "Pirates of the Cabbagean," Ripper and Axel fight over who will be team captain. They end up accidentally ripping the captain hat in half and both put it on, so Zee believes that their team has two captains and says there's no way they'll lose. Axel says that "there can only be one captain," so Ripper tells their team to put their hands up if they want Axel to be captain, which everyone except Scary Girl and Zee raise their hands, resulting in Ripper being angry. Axel ends up kicking Ripper off the boat, saying that's how she deals with mutiny. When Axel crawls out of the water, Ripper sarcastically says "Great job, captain." They then start arguing with each other, until stopped by Chris. The two end up in the bottom two together, and Axel gets out, so Ripper mocks her, but Axel ends up biting his hand and eating his marshmallow.
Total Drama Island 2024[]
In the next season, the two are placed on opposing teams, with Ripper on "Team Skunk Butt" and Axel on "Team Rat Face." In the confessional in "The Pink Painter Strikes Again," Axel says that she's going to attempt to be nicer, but when Ripper asks her how she's been immediately after, she shoves him into the bush. When Priya picks Axel for her team, Ripper says it's the "worst pick yet," and Axel decides to step on his head, knocking him over; Axel then says that she "totally saw him there." During the challenge, Axel tells Ripper she doesn't like people following her, so Ripper says that he isn't following her and that they're just "running to the same place." When the light turns red, Axel purposefully sticks her foot out so Ripper will trip on it and get out.
Fanon[]
Ripaxel came as a shock to most of the fandom. Before the ship became canon, many people shipped stuff like Nichaxel or Chipper, with some people even believing they could become canon. Ripaxel was an unpopular ship then, but things changed after Total Drama Reboot 2024. The ship gained more popularity when Ripper was shown to have a crush on Axel, but then popularity skyrocketed when they had their first kiss.
Nichaxel and Chipper ships still exist, but many are comparing the Nichaxel vs Ripaxel war to the NoCo vs Nemma war. A good amount of people compare the ship to Gidgette since they're always making out. Half of the fandom believes this is disgusting, while the other half thought it was cute. A common take also often states that the ship was better during the first four episodes before it became canon, as that's when the season focused on exploring a kinder side of both Ripper and Axel, which added them more depths as opposed to the later when the couple was flanderized to being just Make-Out Kids.
