Robdelia is the non-binary ship between Robin and Cordelia from the Fire Emblem Awakening fandom.

Canon[]

Fire Emblem Awakening[]

Robin is the amnesiac tactician of the Shepherds who serves as the avatar character of Awakening, allowing the player to customize their gender and appearance. Cordelia is a Pegasus Knight who is known for her talented abilities and her unrequited feelings for Chrom. She is also the last of a squadron of Pegasus Knights who were eradicated by Plegia, and the best friend of fellow Pegasus Knight Sumia. The two of them can enter a romantic relationship after reaching an S-support in-game, although this is only possible with a male Robin.

C Support[]

In their C support, Robin is searching for medical supplies to treat a wound, complaining that they used the last of the salve, to which Cordelia tells them that they aren't out of salve and she had restocked them that morning. Robin compliments Cordelia for her ability to not miss a detail, which she replies by stating that she simply likes to stay on top of things, before mentioning that she manages everyone's supplies so that she can organize whatever needs to be replaced, much to Robin's surprise.

Robin then remarks that they now see why Cordelia is considered a genius, which causes Cordelia to briefly snap at Robin, telling them to not call her that. Robin apologizes, but Cordelia realizes that it's not their fault, as she was simply sensitive to that word due to being called that by her superiors from the day she enlisted. As Cordelia goes into detail about her hazing by the other recruits, including how they also mocked her appearance and fighting style, Robin is mortified, reassuring Cordelia that they didn't mean to call her a genius in a spiteful way. They then offer to speak with Cordelia if she ever needs someone to talk with about these things, although Cordelia misunderstands and asks Robin to analyze a custom javelin she made.

B Support[]

In their B support, Cordelia returns with the custom javelin shown to Robin in their C support, saying that she modified it based on Robin's feedback. Robin, however, is surprised that Cordelia made a javelin completely on her own, asking if she really made one without assembling it from a kit. Cordelia then explains that she found a sappling, fashioned a grip, and then hammered the spearhead in the forge, sarcastically adding that she could've simply waited for the "javelin fairy" to give one to her, but said fairy was unpredictable. She then shows Robin a custom pattern along the shaft that was made from her own design, to which Robin once again expresses surprise at Cordelia making a javelin completely from scratch and calls her a "genius" again, before immediately taking it back after remembering how sensitive Cordelia is about that word.

Robin then expresses how glad they were to help, adding that Cordelia can rely on them if she needs them for anything else. Cordelia smiles and remarks to Robin how kind they are, before suddenly stopping and saying they cannot continue talking, as people will "get the wrong idea." A confused Robin asks what she means, to which Cordelia responds that people will think they're friends if they consistently see Robin's kindness to Cordelia, much to Robin's relief, as they assumed she was going to say something different. However, this still confuses Robin, as they don't understand how that is a bad thing considering the two of them are already friends. Cordelia however expresses surprise and asks if Robin truly considers her a friend, which Robin affirms before asking why not. Apologizing, Cordelia states that she never had any true friends due to all of her comrades outranking her, and had grown accustomed to not having any at all, much to Robin's empathetic dismay. Dismissing the thought, Cordelia restates that she had grown accustomed to not having friends, jokingly adding that she had her Pegasus to talk with, even if they were mostly one-sided.

A Support[]

In their A support, Cordelia approaches Robin, cheerfully expressing that she showed her custom Javelin to the rest of the Shepherds, which elicited a positive response from them. Although Cordelia thanks Robin for helping her once again, Robin declines the thanks, saying that Cordelia was the one who did all the hard work and that they themself are simply glad everything worked out, remarking if only the other Pegasus Knights could see her accomplishment. Letting out a small chuckle, Cordelia remarks that they are likely looking down from the afterlife, confusing Robin at first as she retells the story of her squad: How she was the only survivor from a Plegian attack and was sent out to warn Chrom and the other Shepherds of the breach. In response, Robin explains that, although they already knew the story, they simply assumed the Pegasus Knights who harassed Cordelia and her original squadron were separate groups, apologizing for the confusion. Cordelia quickly forgives them, adding that she is partly to blame for not giving enough details.

Dismissing the thought, Robin asks if, despite all the hazing the other Pegasus Knights put Cordelia through, her squadron really cared about her, to which Cordelia responds with her own surprise at the revelation, surmising that they had decided she was their future, and the hazing was just the standard hazing of all new recruits. Cordelia then suddenly breaks down in tears, wishing that she had gotten to know who they really were sooner, before their deaths, to which Robin expresses sympathy. However, Cordelia immediately dismisses her feelings and states that she doesn't want to try Robin's patience, although she does feel good about getting her feelings off her chest. Robin then remarks that they now understand why Cordelia actually didn't like being called a genius: Cordelia knew that they were being genuine when calling her a genius, rather than insulting her as Robin first assumed. Cordelia remarks at how clever Robin must be to figure that out on their own, to which Robin responds that they are simply blessed with the insight two close friends now, before declaring themself a close friend to Cordelia from that point onward, causing Cordelia to tearfully thank Robin and embrace them.

S Support (Male Robin Only)[]

In their S support, Robin finds Cordelia on the edge of a cliff, and asks what she is doing. Cordelia responds that she is going to throw her handmade javelin into the cliff, wanting to see how far it will fly. As Robin expresses surprise at this, adding that she will never see it again, Cordelia tells him that she is intentionally disposing of the javelin, as it reminds her too much of her fallen comrades and wants to move on as a knight, to which Robin concedes and admits she is right. Cordelia then throws the javelin on the count of three, impressing Robin as he compliments Cordelia and nearly calls her a genius again, before catching himself and instead saying she is skilled at many things. Cordelia, however, tells Robin that she is no longer sensitive about the word "genius," and adds that she won't collapse into Robin's arms like in their A support.

At this point, Robin starts to blush, nervously remarking that he had nearly forgotten about that. Noticing this, Cordelia teases Robin about him apparently starting to fall for her, before suddenly blushing herself as she tells Robin it was just a joke. Robin, however, tells Cordelia that she was right: he had indeed fallen for her, although Cordelia assumes Robin is trying to get her back and compliments him for it. This forces Robin to specify that he was not joking, and was in fact very serious, before showing Cordelia a ring, much to her surprise, and proposing to Cordelia in that moment. While Cordelia briefly hesitates at first, she accepts the proposal, much to Robin's delight. Cordelia then thanks Robin for the proposal, as she believed nothing could warm her heart again, before adding that she will love Robin above all others for the rest of her days.

Summer Scramble DLC[]

In the Summer Scramble DLC for Awakening, Robin and Cordelia can have a special conversation between each other, regardless of gender, although the dialogue changes slightly if the two are married.

The conversation starts with Cordelia remarking about how beautiful a shell looks, admiring how it looks before adding how the beach truly is a paradise filled with hidden treasures. At that moment, Robin appears, calling Cordelia's name and surprising her, prompting Cordelia to ask Robin if everything is okay. Robin responds that he was about to ask her the same, as he saw her crouching and assumed she had been wounded. Cordelia reassures Robin while thanking him for his concern, saying that she was simply "checking her bindings." Robin compliments Cordelia for being prudent, before telling Cordelia to call for him if she was hurt, adding that she could be stubborn and worry him often. He then turns to leave, before noticing a massive pile of seashells behind Cordelia, inquiring her about them. Cordelia lies saying that perhaps the brigands were gathering them for some purpose, and she was keeping them safe, saying that she didn't want anyone to trip on them. Robin then leaves as Cordelia feels relieved, before realizing that she shouldn't have to hide anything from Robin, as he is her husband. However, Cordelia is immediately distracted by another shell she notices and dismisses the thought.

In their second conversation, Cordelia is finishing decorating a lance with seashells, remarking that it has the right amount of "exotic flair." Robin then appears and asks Cordelia what she is doing with those lances, catching Cordelia off guard as she anxiously tells Robin that she wasn't goofing off, much to Robin's confusion. She then says that she was instead testing new ways to improve a javelin's throwing range, adding seashells for their "aerodynamic properties," before throwing one of them into a tree to demonstrate. Impressed, Robin remarks that the javelin hit the tree dead center, and from far away, at that, which Cordelia nervously affirms that it is just as she theorized.

Robin then notices another shell-covered lance nearby and wonders if it will fly as far as the previous one, adding that the shells make it pretty, as well. Cordelia quickly stops Robin from throwing the lance, saying it is her favorite, confusing Robin again. Reluctantly, Cordelia confesses that she was lying about developing aerodynamic lances, and she instead simply likes to decorate her weapons with seashells, to which Robin expresses surprise due to how far the earlier lance flew. Cordelia simply tells Robin that it was just her adrenaline that propelled the lance that far, not the seashells, before apologizing about it, knowing that she shouldn't waste time in the middle of a battle doing such things. Seeing herself as a disappointment to Robin for playing around like a child while her husband was drafting strategies, Cordelia tells Robin that she would understand if he would wish to annul their marriage as a result of her behavior. Robin reassures Cordelia and tells her she is blowing things out of proportion, as not only is he not disappointed, he also loves Cordelia even more, as it allowed him to see another side to Cordelia that wasn't serious and didn't know how to have fun, which Cordelia thanks him for.

However, Robin quickly begins flirting with Cordelia afterwards, calling her cute for playing on the beach like a kid, flustering Cordelia as she denies being cute in this way. Continuing to tease Cordelia, Robin then points out that Cordelia is now blushing, adding that she's getting cuter by the second. This begins to frustrate Cordelia as she tells Robin to stop, saying that she hates being teased. Cordelia then charges forward, which Robin anticipates and tries to step aside, only for Cordelia to catch Robin and kiss him on the lips, right into "[her] trap." Pulling away from the kiss, Cordelia teasingly mocks Robin as a "master tactician" for leaving his lips wide open, leaving Robin flustered as he expresses surprise at Cordelia's boldness for kissing him in front of the entire army. In response, Cordelia tells Robin that he underestimates her, before teasingly remarking how Robin is now blushing, before repeating Robin's tease about getting cuter by the second. Disgruntled, Robin states that not only has he underestimated Cordelia, he has also lost the initiative to continue teasing her, saying it is "not going according to plan." Cordelia inquires about this, asking if he knows strong wives create happy marriages, before saying that he could plan a counterattack of "romantic proportions," which Robin agrees to, adding that it will be one Cordelia will not see coming. Cordelia then expresses that she is looking forward to it, and in the meantime will always be watching Robin, and only him, as Cordelia reaffirms that she loves Robin, and always will.

Fanon[]

Robdelia is one of the most popular ships within the Awakening fandom. It is the most popular ship for Cordelia and one of the overall most popular for Robin, second only to Chrobin and Robcina. The ship also has a fair amount of competition with Tharbin (Tharja/Robin), due to Cordelia and Tharja both being popular marriage options for Male Robin, as well as with other ships involving Cordelia, such as Stahldelia (Stahl/Cordelia) and GregCor (Gregor/Cordelia).

Many fans of the pairing see Robdelia as one of the few Cordelia ships where she genuinely overcomes her feelings for Chrom, and see Robin as an emotional support for Cordelia from their supports. Many fans also enjoy how much the ship compliments Chromia, as Robin and Cordelia are the best friends of Chrom and Sumia, respectively. The relationship between Severa and Female Morgan, who would be siblings under this pairing, is also a strong point for fans of the ship, as the two of them have an interesting dynamic as sisters (Severa is a tsundere with a pessimistic attitude, while Morgan is bright and cheerful.)

The Robin supports are also among the only ones not to bring up Chrom at all, Kellam being the other set. They're also the only pairing that deals with Cordelia's survivor guilt head on, which many fans wish her other supports had brought up.

While Cordelia can only marry Male Robin in-game, a small following of the ship involving Female Robin also exists.

Trivia[]

  • During Robin and Cordelia's S support, the music Haha! Yes! It will take some getting used to! plays in the background, which is the normal S support music used outside of S supports involving Robin, which instead uses "Id - Contentment." She shares this trait with Ricken.
