Canon[]

Pilot[]

After landing in 1975 Rip tells Leonard, Mick and Sara that they aren't needed for their current mission, since their skills weren't required. After a while the three became bored and decided to explore the 70's. The three ended up at a bar. Sara began to dance and an unnamed biker started to hit on her. She declines him, and starts to fight him after he grabs at her arm. Mick and Leonard watch on clearly impressed by her skills. After a few extra men join the fight, Sara says she could use some help. Leonard breaks the two bears he's holding and joins her, while Mick grabs a bar stool and knocks it over someone's head.

Rogue Canary was a more common ship within the Legends fandom. The ship dying off in popularity after Leonard died, and Mick and Sara didn't have as many scenes together. As there was less content for fans to gravitate to as the show went on. Many also moved onto other ships for Sara and Mick, while Leonard fans tended to drop the show after a while. The initial appeal of the ship was how often early on the three were paired up together. Seen as less "good" that the other original Legends, as Sara was an assassin and Mick and Leonard were criminals. Meaning that they had some harder edges to bond over, and got along better with each other than the others.

How the three get together varies in fics. Most commonly, many will depict Mick and Leonard as already being a couple and having Sara join their relationship. Other will have Mick and Leonard pinning for each other while Sara pushes them together, as well as getting with her as well. Often with Mick as the most emotionally stunted one being the last to voice his feelings out loud. A good number of fics also just prefer to depict the three as a friendship.

On AO3, there are currently 104 written works for the poly version. While the gen version has 89 written works.
