“Master Roy is so nice... Inviting a mercenary like me to his hometown, and saying that I can stay as long as I want... Wait...does that mean...? No no, don't get cocky... But still...hmm...”
— Shanna about Roy in their A support

Royshanna is the het ship between Roy and Shanna from the Fire Emblem fandom.

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade[]

Shanna is a pegasus knight from Ilia and the sister of Thea (Tate) and Juno. She works as a mercenary along with Dieck, Wade and Lot, apart from Zelot, Treck and Noah as the inhabitants of Ilia earn money mostly from contracts with mercenaries.

One day, when the Bern war broke out, Eliwood and Hector were too old to fight and so, they hired these two aforementioned mercenary groups (Eliwood hired Dieck's group where Shanna was, while Hector hired Zelot's group), making both of them finally join Roy's army.

While Roy was fighting on the border of Lycia with Bern, Shanna appears along with her group of mercenaries commanded by Dieck. Shanna decides to observe what was going on by means of her pegasus and returned to report about Roy, her next client. There, Roy meets Shanna and they both decide to fight against Bern with the remnants of the Lycian army. Roy and Shanna manage to fulfill Ellen's request: to rescue a noble princess who wanted to talk to someone from Lycia, who later turns out to be Guinivere, the princess of Bern.

If Roy's army decides to liberate Ilia first, Shanna is reunited with Juno, who decides to join Roy's army regardless of being retired from her career.

In their support conversations, Shanna often thinks Roy is teasing her just because she is carefree. In addition, Shanna reveals that she loves fighting outside of Ilia, plus she enjoys being in Roy's army as she travels all over the continent of Elibe fighting Bern. Also, in high ranks of support, Roy makes Shanna think that Ilia would be too cold to return to, to which he invites her to stay in Pherae after the war.

At the end of the game, Shanna returns to Ilia to continue training as a pegasus knight, although if she has support A with Roy, she marries him and gives up being a pegasus knight to become the Marchioness Pherae with him.

Fire Emblem: Heroes[]

Roy and Shanna are two of the heroes that the player can summon separately via the Breidablik using orbs to help Alfonse and his sister Sharena defending their kingdom Askr from the Emblian Empire. As in their original game, Roy and Shanna can develop a bond via support. They can raise their level of support in the following ranks: C, B, A and S if they stand together in the gameplay. Each has their variations, while Roy has four variations, Shanna has only two.

Both have received Bridal variations, although in different events. In Shanna's paralogue, she is anxious about celebrating his elder sister Juno's wedding with Zelot alongside Thea and Catria. At the end of the festival, Shanna herself comments that some day, she would like to have her own marriage, possibly pointing at Roy. In Roy's paralogue, many of Roy's suitors appear in a bride's dressing competition to get his attention. Although Shanna doesn't participate directly in the event, she tries to convince Sue to participate, but she refuses. At the end, Roy comments that he won't chose any of the girl, and may other time, he will pick someone, possibly pointing to Shanna as she didn't participate despite having her bridal outfit some time prior.

Fanon[]

Royshanna is quite popular within The Binding Blade fandom. Though, due to the fact that the game was never released outside Japan, Royshanna isn't very known in the Fire Emblem fandom overall. Some of those who pair them consider their supports to be fair enough, but good enough to pair them. A part of the fandom considere that it's the best support option for both since their conversations develop both characters. They are also sometime paired for strategic purpose since it give a fire affinity support to Shanna wich help her to do more damage wich help her to level up fast on early game.

One advantage is that Shanna is the first female unit to join the army in the second chapter of the game. This allows some time for the player to develop Shanna's support for Roy before he can recruit other love interests, such as Sue, Cecilia or Larum, since Roy's other love interests also gain 1 support point per turn like Shanna. However, if Lilina joins the army, Shanna has a disadvantage against Lilina in terms of support points with Roy, as Shanna gains 1 point per turn compared to 4 of Lilina's, and also, Shanna starts with just 1 starting point compared to 56 of Lilina's, at the risk of Lilina quickly reaching A-support with Roy before Shanna does, so players prefer to avoid putting Lilina together with Roy in the gameplay and in major cases, avoid taking her out to battle and replace her with Lugh or Hugh, to allow Roy and Shanna to develop their supports without any problems.

Royshanna is often considered as the FE6 equivalent of Caedarth since many characters of FE6 are based on characters from FE1/FE3, as the lord Roy is the equivalent of Marth while Shanna is considered as Caeda's equivalent since she is the early blue haired pegasus knight princess linked to mercenaries.

The main rivals of the ship are RoyLili, Roylia, Roysue, Roylarum and Royphia.
