SabiMakoGiyu is the poly ship between Sabito, Makomo and Giyu from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Sabito and Giyu[]
Though Sabito was deceased long before the series began. It is revealed that he and Giyu were very close friends due to having similar situations as both of their families were lost by Demons. When the two were permitted to enter Final Selection. Sabito's life was taken by the hands of the Hand Demon, saving many other participants who were also in the exam including Giyu. The lost of Sabito drowned Giyu in so much guilt that he lost faith in his own abilities and even thought about giving up his position as the Water Hashira.
Giyu also stated that Sabito had a strong sense of justice and was a very kind boy back when he was alive. When Giyu believed that he was better off dead after his sister's death, Sabito slapped him and demanded him to never think such thoughts since they would dishonor her sacrifice.
The two were so close that after Sabito's death, Giyu had half of his haori designed to match the yukata he would wear to honor Sabito's sacrifice along with his deceased sister.
Sabito and Makomo[]
Sabito and Makomo never met when the two were alive. They were only able to meet after they were both killed at their Final Selection. Eventually after their deaths the two’s souls found their way back to Mount Sagiri.
The two grew a close bond the time they were. But they’re souls couldn’t rest due to their failure to return and Urokodaki's grief.
Eventually Urokodaki takes in a new student named Tanjiro, whom he trained for a decent period of time. After training Tanjiro for a year, he gave Tanjiro one final lesson, to slice a boulder in half with his sword.
After 6 months Urokodaki's new student is still unable to cut the boulder. While he is training, he eventually encounters Sabito, who challenges him to a duel. Sabito eventually defeats him and knocks him unconscious. Makomo appears after their fight concludes and Sabito entrusts the rest of Tanjiro's training to her.
After Tanjiro regains consciousness. Makomo introduces herself and tells her that the person he fought earlier is Sabito. She tells him that they both love Urokodaki very much. Makomo corrected Tanjiro's unnecessary movements and bad habits. But she never revealed why they were helping him.
When asked how he can master Total Concentration Breathing. She simply responded by saying train to death. Even though he trained even harder he was still unable to defeat Sabito nor was he able to cut boulder. But in 6 months that finally changed. Sabito and Tanjiro had one last duel, the second the fight started, Tanjiro’s blade reached Sabito first. Ending the fight in an instant. Sabito was shocked at this but smiled as Tanjiro was finally able to surpass him. Makomo told him to never forget what he has done and to continue winning.
During Tanjiro’s Final Selection, Makomo asks Sabito if Tanjiro will be able to be him and Sabito responds by saying he doesn’t know. Since it was never enough when they tried. Tanjiro then fights the morphed Demon that killed Urokodaki's other students, who eventually revealed that he vowed to kill every last one of Urokodaki's pupils as revenge for trapping him in the prison. He states that Makomo and Sabito were the two who stood out to him the most and that they were strongest among all of the students he defeated.
Tanjiro thanks Makomo and Sabito for helping him become stronger and vows to defeat this demon to avenge them and Urokodaki's other deceased students. Makomo worries that Tanjiro will also be defeated and wonders if it's even possible to behead him. Sabito says he is unsure of what the outcome will be, but reassures her by reminding her that he’s the one that cut the toughest boulder of all.
The battle concludes and Tanjiro emerges victorious, putting an end to the Demon's twisted cycle. With that, Sabito and Makomo's souls can finally rest and they fade into the mist before ascending to the afterlife.
During the post timeskip, the reincarnation of the three are seen being friends, talking as they walk heading to their respective school.
Makomo and Giyu[]
Makomo and Giyu never met in the series. Makomo was already deceased when Giyu was taken in by Urokodaki. But with that being said, the two are both fellow pupils of Urokodaki and users of the Water Breathing so they do have something in common.
Fanon[]
SabiMakoGiyu is fairly known among the fandom. The ship sailed due to the trio all being students of Urokodaki and his most known ones. Aside from Tanjiro and his other unnamed deceased students. Little people ship them romantically and prefers to view them as friends.
Many fans tend to believe that if Sabito and Makomo were alive in the current timeline, they would've been able to become Hashira along with Giyu and the three would all be able to better train Tanjiro. There is a good amount of Artwork with the three all together. Another reason people like this ship is because their reincarnations are shown to often hang out with each other.
